My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

~ Compassionate Adoption Fee Applies~
My name is China, well it is now – no one knows what my name was before I found my way to CAA Rescue. I was found running the streets, a man picked me up and brought me to the SPCA; I sat there for 9 days but no one came for me and no one was looking for me (quelle surprise!). CAA was contacted and they immediately said yes … it is a good thing for me that they have a huge soft spot for seniors!

It is obvious that I had many, many litters as finally when I was spayed they did remove a mass that had developed on my nipples, so I guess the family that had me for the last 10 years used me up for my babies, stealing one litter after another from me and getting me pregnant time and time again. So it is no wonder that they just dumped me outside just like garbage in -30 degree temperatures this February … you remember those cold days?? They were not that long ago! So YUP I was running around in that temperature with no jacket all by myself just terrified and freezing. While the SPCA scared me too at least I was warm there and the volunteers were really nice to me but the cage environment was really not a good place for me and the option for adoption was pretty much zero to none as no one wants to love a senior … well not no one because the kind volunteers have been known to rescue many a senior and find them loving new homes and maybe you reading this will be the one to say, “Yes I can love this lady for the rest of her days!!”

Are up the one?

Now that I have been in foster care for a couple of weeks and have recovered from my spay I am ready to find my forever home! I currently live with cats, dogs (both big and small) with absolutely no issues. I am friendly and not shy but for the most part I keep to myself or follow my foster mummy around. I do love people very much

Sometimes I can get a little nervous with men and shy away but my foster daddy is extremely patient and I do a very pretty little dance for him when he has liver treats … I would do anything for a liver treat!

I did also have 10 teeth extracted and a dental cleaning so while I can eat kibble the bite size portions need to be a little smaller than normal – same goes with the treats

My foster mummy says I am 95% house trained because when outside I will do my business out there but the key is when I got to go my signals are very subtle. So getting me on a schedule will really be the key to my success. Because I was in recovery mode for quite some time and the weather was so awful I have not been out on the leash yet but foster mummy says we will get around to that when the time comes; she is really nice because she really does not rush me to do anything. Everything has just been calm and slow and really at my pace; which is wonderful because I feel my confidence growing every day and I feel stronger and healthier than ever before! As a senior sometimes it takes a little bit longer for me to learn new things but boy-o-boy I am still as smart as a whip! I do learn fast and if there is a liver treat at the end of any journey I will be right there beside you!

I have a super health appetite! I guess now that the rotting teeth are removed and I can eat pain free I just enjoy eating so darn much! Really there is not a diet I have met that I did not love… so because I am food motivate a positive reinforcement style family would really be perfect for me.

I am not a big barker but do bark when I am startled so probably not best to be in an apartment style home where your neighbors are sensitive to sound as I would hate to get anyone in trouble and have to move again! The next move I have will have to be my last; I deserve a family to be committed to me for all time!

I have not been around any children but I am a calm and very gentle so foster mummy guesses that I would be ok with children visiting my new home but I think now I am just too old to keep up with the excitement and joy of children day in and day out but if they came to visit me for a few hours I think that would make me happy

Currently in foster care I display no signs of aggression or possession

I do like to snuggle in bed so my adoptive family must agree to let me make snugglebums every night!! :)

Really my hectic and crazy days consists of exactly this:
Wake up very slowly (I am really not a morning doggie so if you like to sleep in; I will be right there with you)
Run outside for a pee
Come inside for breakfast
Go back outside for my poo
Nap for a few hours
Get up and play with foster daddy for treats and another bathroom break
Nap
YAY foster mummy comes home!!! Which means another pee, DINNER (that is my favorite meal), poo, chase foster mummy around (she is always so darn busy doing stuff)
& finally in bed for snuggles where foster mummy pets me and kisses me and hugs me and tells me what a sweet girl I am!
We watch some TV and one final pee break before bed
And finally the soft comfy Bed

Really I am not very complicated and it takes very little to make me happy… a full belly and lots of love is all I really need!

If you are looking for a best friend and promise to always love me for the next 3 to 5 years because really we are not sure how much time I have left; if you are reading my story and know that it is me that is missing in your life and that I am the one that can make your heart complete please email CAARescue@gmail.com and ask them for an application for adoption. It is a few questions and it will take no longer than 20 minutes to complete but once you do that we can meet. And maybe I spent the last 10 hard years of my life being used, managed to stay alive this long … for you to find me as we were always meant to be together and you can finally show me what it really means to be LOVED for the first time in my life!
