My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Pebbles is a beautiful, sweet and active, full-blooded female Great Dane.
She is about two years old and still has a bit of puppy in her. Pebbles was surrendered to Critter Calvary by her owner who had become ill and could no longer care for her. Unfortunately, for sometime before Pebbles was surrendered. She was banished from the house to the backyard in December and January, where she was neglected. When Pebbles came to the rescue she was infested with worms, twenty five pounds underweight, in need of surgery for cherry eye and emotionally stressed. She was also exhibiting some aggression toward other dogs. Six weeks later, Pebbles looks great! Her eye has been fixed, she has gained about 15 lbs., she is worm free and feeling good. She has become more tolerant and even playful with the other dogs with whom she lives as well as neighborhood dogs, but there are still issues where food is involved. We are working on that. Pebbles is big. She stands about 33 inches at the withers and presently weighs about 115 lbs. She is a sweet, affectionate, loving dog who enjoys laying on the couch on top of her people, and who has an enormous appetite for human contact. Pebbles is also a big powerful athletic dog; pure lean muscle. She enjoys, and requires, walks and exercise off leash. Pebbles would be a great dog for someone who is experienced with large breed dogs. She needs someone to understand that she is strong-willed, yet gentle. She needs someone who has the time to continue her training. She would do best with a family that does not have small children or small dogs. She will need to be introduced to new dogs carefully. She is not a Dog Park dog at this time....probably never will be. Then again, lots of dogs at the Dog Park don't behave nicely and you don't want Pebbles trying to put them in their place.
