My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Otis is just a middle of the road kind of guy – he has a medium energy level, he likes attention but settles down nicely by himself, and he stays out of trouble while still managing to entertain his foster family. Otis came into rescue from a rural animal control where he was found as a stray. The animal control facility had over a dozen beagles, and handsome Otis was the lucky one who got to come to Midwest BREW! Since Otis was a stray, we don’t know his age, but he is estimated at 5-6 years old.

Otis loves to play with the other playful dogs and he gets along with all of the other dogs, male and female, big and small, that he lives with right now. With new dogs, Otis can get a bit overexcited leading to playing too rough, but with some redirection and time to settle in, he calms down and stops being a pest. He ignores the cats in his foster home, and is expected to do well with most all other pets in a potential new home.

Indoors, Otis is generally quiet, and outdoors, Otis loves to roam in the fenced yard and bays with all his voice as he follows the scents in the yard. A fenced yard is recommended for Otis because of his love of roaming and sniffing, and it is important to understand that his outdoor voice will carry quite a distance! He is excellent in his crate and his house training is nearly perfect. Although Otis has been known to chew up an item or two, he usually doesn’t get into things that he shouldn’t and would likely be able to graduate from a crate to free run of the house after adjusting to his new home.

Once Otis is done playing and sniffing outdoors, he comes inside and takes good long naps (as you see in his photos). Otis would love to find his one and only forever home where he can nap and play in comfort, and we would love to hear from you if can offer that to him!
