My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

~ Adoption Fee Applies~

My name is Doogie! I am a 7 year old pug. Surprisingly enough not your typical pudgy pug but that is probably because my teeth are really in bad shape and the family who surrendered me to the pound obviously did not have the money to do my dental. There is no way they could NOT notice the state of decay and rot my teeth are in; it is so bad that in fact many have fallen out on their own.

So that being said I am a little on the skinny side for now; in fact a little too skinny so before CAA Rescue schedules my dental extractions and cleaning I need to get a little healthier. But don’t worry about me – my foster mama is taking extra special care to make sure I have a good soft food diet for now to get me nice and strong to undergo the sedation needed for the dental work to come around the week of March 30th. CAA Rescue will pay for this dental work and everyone is very excited including me so I am doing all I can to get strong.

The first thing I did after my bath when I arrived in foster care was sleep – I was very greasy and my nails were very long as well. Foster mummy and the kind vet at Animal 911 tried to clip them as best they could but best to wait to do the rest when I am sedated during my dental. So like I was saying I slept A LOT like I had never ever slept before. Boy I really wish I could tell everyone what my life was like before but really I think it would be healthier for me to focus on the here and now!

The folds on my face were obviously not well cleaned and maintained by my previous home so I developed a pretty bad infection, foster mummy cleaned it as best she could and Animal 911 treated it with anti biotics so my future family will have to be sure to maintain this area for me. I cannot do it myself otherwise you can be sure I would because it was a pretty darn awful infection and not very nice to look at or smell. This can absolutely never happen to me again!
I am house trained and leash trained.

I am not a huge barker but really I have not been left alone for an extended amount of time; just a few hours here and there … guess what I did! If you guessed sleep then you are right and can already see into my heart!! I do not need to be crated all I need is a soft warm spot to snooze the day away

My foster home is awesome because I have other big dogs and cats to live with and I am very friendly … not to mention my neighbor is a Crazy PugLady so when I get tired of being with big doggies I get to hang with guys of my feather. I am really easy going and laid back! Just happy to BE!

I love being close to people and while my foster mummy works away guess what I do?? If you guessed nap by her feet then you are right and WOW it is like you already know me so well!

I have not been tested around children but I am pretty gentle and kind so if you have some visiting your home I think I could be happy being friends with them but I don’t think I would really be happy in a house day in and day out with happy, excited, loud and playful children as they would probably cut into my favorite pastime!! ;)

I like car rides so if you have summer road trip get a ways planned for the chalet this summer I would really love to come with you as I have never snoozed at a chalet before and I have a feeling I would really like to do that!

While I like to be very close to humans as in, “in your face while you are sleeping close” I am not a huge time cuddly bear but ever so often I will snuggle. I just want to be as close as possible so ideally if you work from home and are looking for a quiet partner to keep you company during the day that really could be me!

I have displayed no signs of toy aggression or possession with the other dogs in the home but I have been known to be protective of my food; not in a horrible and mean way just in a “HEY This is MY food kinda way”. I have never acted or reacted poorly. I think it is just something that will probably subside once I get used to my environment and having other doggies around and feeling comfortable that my food is my own and no one will touch it. That will just take time and consistency

Foster mummy whispered in my ear and told me that I was marvelous and perfectly pugalious but she did not want to jinx it so she knocked on wood and then she said that only absolutely marvelous and perfect people will ever have the chance to meet and love me forever more! That I am a very loyal friend and in turn I am very much deserving of an equally loyal best friend to love me forever more! There should be no reason whatsoever that I have to see the inside of a pound again and be locked in a cage!

If you are looking for a best friend and promise to always love me; if you are reading my story and know that it is me that is missing in your life and that I am the one that can make your heart complete please email CAARescue@gmail.com and ask them for an application for adoption. It is a few questions and it will take no longer than 20 minutes to complete but once you do that we can meet… and maybe you can come over and meet me and we can have a snooze together on the couch!
