My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Diamond has been in THE RED DOG PROJECT prison rehabilitation program. That means fostering with inmate handlers and learning the basics of all around good behavior, potty training and interacting with other dogs.

Here is more information about me:
Diamond was living with a family who had no time for her; she got too big to stay with them in their apartment, and they were desperate to find her a new home. A college student was determined to help them find Diamond a new home, but she was running out of time when The Red Dog Project stepped in.

Diamond is approximately 9 months old and a sweet girl who just wants to be loved. We are guessing she is nearly full grown and will reach about 40 lbs. Diamond is an absolute sweetheart and makes everyone smile! She's a smaller girl and has really developed self-confidence at the prison. She would do great in almost any adopter setting but, like most of our dogs, she should not be left home alone all day since she started her young life that way and it could bring on some PTSD issues. Children could be considered but not under the age of eight. Diamond would do best in a home with another similar sized dog. (She is currently fostered in a home with five dogs, including as small as 12 pounds. It is just that she enjoys playing with other dogs and would like to have a dog friend.)

GENERAL VETERINARY CARE:
I have been:
~ spayed/neutered
~ microchipped
~ dewormed
~ heatworm-tested negative if dog is of age to be tested ( 6 months or older)
~ up to date on all age appropriate shots
~ treated with a flea preventative

Diamond has been seen by a Connecticut veterinarian and all medical records will come with the adoption papers as well as notes from Diamond's dog handler.

ADOPTION FEES
Adoption fee is $385 and includes all vetting listed above.

ONLINE ADOPTION APPLICATION FORM:

ADOPTION PROCESS -
If you would like to begin the application process, please fill in the form at the link above and we will review your information, call your personal and well as vet references. PLEASE Fill in the application if you're interested in adoption. We hope you will understand the careful scrutiny of potential adopters is not only for the safety and well-being of the dog but also for a positive experience for your household. Thank you for saving the life of a shelter dog through adoption; you are truly a hero.
-- A letter from your vet on their letterhead will also be very helpful if they won't be open for us to call as a reference.
-- If you are renting, please note you must have a written letter of permission from your landlord to own a dog on their property.
-- If you have never owned a dog and therefore do not have a vet reference let us know right away and we'll try to do a home visit before the adoption. First time adopters need a quick home visit to make sure they are ready to take a dog home for the first time.

The Red Dog Project dogs will often visit area retailers for a Saturday or Sunday "debut", please email info@reddogproject.org if you would like to be on the mailing list for those events.

Thank you!
