Meet the lovable Lukey, a 9 year old pekingese that would be the happiest boy around if you gave him the great home that he's dreaming of. Lukey came to us from our Newark facility when he was turned in by his owner, who could no longer care for him. Little Lukey was allowed to get extremely overweight, which resulted in arthritis in his legs. Lukey will need a home where he can continue with the good diet that we have him on so that eventually, he will feel and walk better. Lukey has also had some vision loss, but he gets around perfectly fine. He has chronic dry eye which will require eye drops indefinitely. This little guy is in such good spirits though, and just loves everyone he meets. He is extremely mellow and easy going, and would be content as a cucumber just to plop himself in your lap and take a snooze. Lukey is quiet and well behaved, and it doesn't take much to make him happy. He is very sweet and doesn't mind being carried around when he gets tired of walking, or cuddling up with you. He will need a home with no children under 10, but Lukey doesn't seem to mind other dogs that are easy going and well behaved like he is.
