Facts about Cancun

  • Breed: Shepherd (Unknown Type) Mix
  • Color: Brindle
  • Age: Young
  • Size: Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
  • Sex: Female
Big fan of: Other dogs. Because Cancun is timid, she gets a lot of her confidence from other dogs. She would love to have a playful, self-assured dog in her forever home. Cancun also adores cuddling with people and giving kisses!

Not a fan of: Loud noises and sudden movements. Cancun would prefer a quiet home with just adults. She also does best with positive reinforcement and can be sensitive to training that is too firm or harsh.

A little more: Cancun came to PAWS several months ago from another shelter. We don’t know much about her past, but she was very shy at first. She is currently in a foster home with an experienced dog handler who has provided lots of training, and Cancun has made amazing progress. She has a lot of energy and loves running laps in the backyard or zooming up and down the stairs. Her foster family affectionately calls her “the Energizer Bunny” because she never seems to tire out!

Dream home: Cancun is searching for experienced adult owners who will be patient as she takes time coming out of her shell.

Foster-to-Adopt Period:

The first 14 days following every adoption is considered the Foster-to-Adopt period. Foster-to-Adopt is a great way to see if a dog is a good fit for the adopter’s lifestyle. It is also a great way to see how the animal behaves in a home environment. During the 14-day Foster-To-Adopt period, if the adopter decides the adopted animal is not the right match, the adoption fee is reimbursed when the animal and their medical records are returned to PAWS Chicago.
