This little guy is a perfect family pet. He is young at approximately a year and doesn't know his basic commands but he is very responsive and eager to please. He would excel in obedience classes but is learning quickly on his own as well. Dude loves everyone and really enjoys people of all ages. He is also great with other dogs and is even fine with dog savvy cats. He will fit easily into any family and would be a good choice for a first time dog owner. Dude currently weighs 21 lbs.
Dude is a very affectionate and loving little dog. He has this cute behaviour where he will walk around holding treats and toys in his mouth. He seems very healthy and while he doesn't have puppy energy he definitely acts like a young dog. Although he is shy with some people at first, he loves everyone including children of all ages and other pets. I have taken him to work with me which is at a doggy daycare and he got along great with all the other dogs there. In my home, he will only chase the cats if they run. He just wants to play with them but they don't want any part of him.
He is playful and quite active outside the house but in the home he is calm and quiet. He will bark when a stranger comes but not for long and I believe it is just excitement on seeing someone new to be friends with. He was a little shy with my husband's mom but she is a big lady and speaks with a German accent. He only barks when appropriate such as when someone knocks at the door or rings the bell. His favourite thing to do is cuddle with my 10 year old daughter on the couch. He doesn't play fetch but he likes stuffed animals. He likes to just carry them around and he never destroys them.
Dude is a young dog and it doesn't appear that he was taught any basic commands. He does respond to us immediately but it is more in the way we say it I think. We are working on his learning the basics. He is very well behaved however and does not try to steal food or get into anything he shouldn't. He is fully house trained and will go sit at the door when he needs to go out and will wait until you let him out to do his business. He has only been crated for a short while (maybe 3 hours) while we ran out to do some errands and he was silent in there. In his new home I am sure he won't need to be crated at all. He pulls quite a bit initially on the leash but will calm down throughout the walk. This will improve with more walking. He gets excited and does try to get out the door but he is learning really fast to stay back when we are coming in and out. He is Great in the car! He lays down until we get to where we are going.
Dude is such a good dog. Very well behaved and very calm in the house. He just wants to be around people and will make a wonderful family pet. Any loving home would be good for Dude.
