My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Who is interested in a big heart attached to a very big head? Thumper is a gentle giant. He is a very sweet and loving dog. Calm and mellow in the house, he really likes to be with people. He is good with other dogs, and would probably prefer to live with another dog. Thumper is full of love and gentleness. We do not have history with him living with kids or cats.

Thumper is 8 years old and still has a lot of curiosity in him. He is a bit skittish around loud or sudden noises in the house such as emptying the dishwasher or washing dishes. He tells you when he needs to go out and has not had any accidents. He pulls slightly on leash but does not yank. He is very responsive on leash and he will be easy to train to stop pulling. He very much wants to please you and just be with you.

Thumper is a VERY enthusiastic eater. He is completely focused (and rather noisy) when eating his bowl of food and loves to eat twice a day. However, he is not fat at all, and instead should probably put on some weight.

In summary, this guy is a very loving dog that wants to please you. He adjusts quickly to new routines, listens when you call him and runs back, and responds very well when you say no. He is a gem and a really sweet dog. He will be a wonderful addition to any house and will soon become a loved and valued family member.
..............
Thumper has been diagnosed with sub-aortic stenosis, in other words, a severe heart disease that is congenital in nature. He will always be at risk for developing congestive heart failure, ventricular arrhythmias, endocarditis and/or sudden death. At this time there is no imminent risk of congestive heart failure and no arrhythmias were noted. Thumper is currently on a very inexpensive beta blocker medication. He'll need a follow up visit in 6 months for another heart ultrasound to check the medication levels. Thumper is looking for a quiet home where he'll get a couple of short, relaxing walks each day and where he'll be loved for the rest of his life.

Thumper is not neutered. Due to his medical condition our vet has advised against any surgery.
