- a buddy to live with.

FULL BIO BELOW
**************************************************************************************************

WHY IS HE IN NEED? - This poor little man is one of 15 dogs in crisis. Owner has to move out due to circumstances beyond his control and is distraught because he can't take his beloved dogs. We know he lived with dogs and cats. TO PREVENT HIM FROM BEING KILLED AT THE SHELTER D/T LACK OF SPACE, HE IS NOW COMING INTO RESCUE.

WHERE IS HE NOW.- He will be arriving on relay for the 21st. He will be given time to settle into his foster home- where he will be living with dogs - cats and kids.
His adoption fee will confirmed once he has arrived

Goober was living at a trailer with his owners and many dogs
They split up and left all the dogs behind

Goober had rotten teeth and was not fixed, dewormed etc
We have done his dental and vetting

He was 12 on intake and is now 13

He is fostered in Walkerton with kids, dogs and a cat

Goober is a laid back kind of guy unless he is in pursuit of food or treats

He is looking for a home to retire to

His basic vetting costs and two dentals have costs us about 3x his adoption fee

People often ask us if there is a reduced fee to adopt a senior pet but sadly we do not get a reduced fee for vetting

We hope someone will fall in love with this charmer and want to spend his retirement with him

He deserved better than to be abandoned and left to suffer, let alone be rescued and then no one ever adopts him

We welcome your application for consideration

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PLEASE NOTE WE DO NOT ADOPT OUT OF THE PROVINCE OF ONTARIO AND WILL NOT SHIP A PET!

*** HOW IT WORKS - ADOPTION INFORMATION ****
Please read ** ALL** the information provided below on the process to
save time and facilitate the process in a smooth manner.

The adoption fee does NOT cover the cost of vetting or supplies for these animals - If you cannot afford the adoption fee
(that is a fraction of actual REDUCED VETTING expenses incurred) then you should reconsider adopting.
These animals deserve forever homes, good food, regular vet care, and emergency care as needed.
Pets should never be euthanized by their owners simply based on financial consideration when something goes wrong.

Applications
http://www.adoptapet.lucknow.on.ca/applications.html--This is a MS Word copy of our application.
It can be completed, saved and emailed back to the rescue at
petrescue@hurontel.on.ca .

1. We require a fully filled app to be considered as a possible home
2. Only the approved app will be premitted a viewing with the pet ** in the foster home **
3. ALL family members MUST meet the dog ** in the foser home** .
4. Any exsisting pets MUST attend the meet/ greet with the dog ** at the foster home ** .
5. A home visit must be completed as part of the adoption process after the inital viewing by a rescue representative.
This is not a replacement of the meet/ greet at the Foster home.
6. We do not adopt outside of ONTARIO .
7. We do not deliver dogs. If and once the adoption process is approved and complete the dog must be picked up at the
foster home

****PLEASE DO NOT USE SKYE DRIVE OR COMPLETE THE APP TO FAX OR SCAN TO EMAIL IN AS WE ARE NOT ON A HIGH SPEED CONNECTION.

If you have any difficulties with the various application options please let us know @ petrescue@hurontel.on.ca

**** You must complete an adoption application in FULL in order for rescue to determine if the dog/cat is a good match for you and you are a good match for the Pet.

**** We do not show dogs /cats to people that merely want to drop in and look at the pet or see multiple pets **** .Not only are the pets fostered in various foster homes in various towns often hundreds of kilometres apart and not only do we simply do not have the manpower for that - more importantly it is unfair for the pet to be shown to various people and passed by - therefore we chose the most suitable application for the pet - then schedule a viewing.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

** ARE YOU FULLY COMMITTED ??????? .
Rescue values the time applicants put into filling out our application and the consideration of welcoming a new member into the family/ home.

Please be considerate to rescue AND volunteers when committing to a viewing.
Too many times rescue ends up making repeated changes d/t repeated delays for the approved applicant/ application. With delays - Rescue and pets are also impacted as rescue invests personal time around personal family time/ work time and cost of travel/ gas when arranging a viewing only to then have a late cancelation /applicants not even show up with no notification or even then have applicants back out .
Repeated delays hold up foster spots for pets in crisis and in turn it can cost them their lives!!.

**** PLEASE DON'T BE THE CAUSE OF AN ANIMAL IN NEED TO LOOSE THEIR LIFE D/T BEING OUT OF TIME **.

**** If we do not carefully screen where cats/ dogs are adopted to then the cycle would only continue when the ill-suited dog ends up back in the pound.

**** As it stand pounds are begging us to find space for healthy and adoptable dogs/ cats (who will be euthanized due to a simple lack of space) - So we Thank You in advance for respecting our successful process.

SAFE PLACEMENT FOR PET AND HOME

We welcome enquiries from applicants with well-behaved canines. Please do not apply if your dog has any possession aggression, or resource guards food/toys/space/owners, has leash aggression or aggression towards other dogs. This is for the safety of our foster dog/ cat and to ensure they do not become fear defensive.
We thank you for wanting to rescue a dog/ cat and simply ask that you address and correct your dog's issues before adding an adoptive animal in to the home. By allowing only well socialized and well trained pets to be considered as a possible forever home for our rescue dogs we are looking out for both our foster dog/ cat and your dog's own best interest. We also ask that if your cat is not used to having a dog around that you expose them to a family or friend's dog several times to see if they will accept a new family member within their home, before applying.

IF YOU FEEL YOUR CURRENT PACK IS STABLE & READY FOR A NEW MEMBER WE WELCOME YOUR INTEREST
Our rescue prides itself on adopting out the proper dog/cat to the proper family. If you would like to be considered for one of our dogs/cats please complete a adoption application as outlined in this bio.
If you are a successful applicant you will be asked to come to a viewing at the dog's/ cats foster home with your entire family, as well as your existing dog { if any }. This viewing will allow your family, the foster home and I to see if this is a suitable match.
We will all take 24 hours to mull it over and go from there. Adoptions are not rushed. Our priority is placing the dog/cat in the proper family. On intake a new dog/ cat is assessed in a foster home to determine which type of home suits them best.

We will give preference to any application that has the fortitude to take their newly adopted dog to training to bond or cat into a safe indoor enviroment and learn together from a professional as needed who has the dog's best interest at heart.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FOSTERING

If there are any dog/ cat lovers out there now is the time to step up - there are many on the short list to be killed in shelters all over due to simple lack of space - please consider helping now - dogs/ cats are killed every hour - they die by being jabbed thru the heart (heart-sticking) and being gassed to death more often than humane euthanization!

Here are some links with additional info-
http://www.adoptapet.lucknow.on.ca/before-you-adopt-or-foster.html
http://www.adoptapet.lucknow.on.ca/faq---foster.html
If you are interested in fostering - please fill out the application here :
http://www.adoptapet.lucknow.on.ca/applications.html

We always need foster homes for the constant influx of new dogs/ cats in need - if you are interested in fostering - please consider that the rescue vets the cat /dog before they go in to foster care - they also provide a new dog collar and rescue i.d. tag on intake - as well as food - and any additional vetting needed thereafter the initial vetting.

We are happy to consider your home to foster an appropriate pet for your lifestyle if you are a believer in positive reinforcement and keeping cat indoors & dog on lead until recall and boundary trained, unless in a completely secure off leash area - We welcome foster homes in the Guelph/ Kitchener/Cambridge to London to Durham to Goderich area.

Please contact the rescue via email at petrescue@hurontel.on.ca
For more info if you are interested in fostering - again we do ask that you complete our application so we know your expectations and can match with you a dog/cat that suits.

About Adopt-a-Pet/ Petrescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Saving Discarded Pets Since1998
as well as puppy mill discards, dogs from high kill shelters, and owner surrenders as space allows.
Please note we are located in Grey-Bruce County,
in the area of Lucknow, Ontario
which is south east of Kincardine ,Ontario but have our dogs placed in foster homes
from London area & north to Kitchener area- Cambridge- Woodstock and Guelph areas .

We are a group of committed volunteers led by the tireless efforts of Kathi. Together we transport, foster, contribute, volunteer, donate, support, encourage and generally all around enjoy the fruits of Kathi's labours.

Adopt-a-Pet Pet Rescue is a non profit, private rescue without an office, a shelter building, or paid staff. We are not subsidized or funded by anyone. People often mistake us as being affiliated with the SPCA and other groups. However, we raise all funds ourselves to pay for the care of the animals.

We pick up unclaimed, homeless and discarded animals from pounds and shelters. Some pounds allow the animal extra time to find a home, but if they are unsuccessful, then they call us to take the animal so it is not euthanized. When we have available space we take in owner surrenders and pick up puppy mill dogs who have either outworn their usefulness or who have passed their puppy-cuteness-easy-to-sell date. We We cover hundreds of kilometers from Kincardine to London to Cambridge to Southampton, Ontario Canada. We also try to save the lives of animals who aren't within our area whenever we can - we don't close doors based on geography.

Pre-adoption, we provide above average veterinary care. We spay or neuter, micro-chip, vaccinate, deworm and treat for parasites. If the animal is too young to be fixed at time of adoption we offer a spay or neuter rebate. We provide all necessary emergency care and initial grooming. We buy their food, dog collars and any other necessities.

Each of us have jobs, families and the typical resonsibilities of busy lives. We give of our time, energy and enthusiasm to rescue animals for the same reason Kathi does - anything less is unacceptable to us. When you call or email Adopt-a-Pet Pet Rescue, please be patient with us - we are juggling alot ... and we're glad to do it for the animals.

We are always in need of and welcome help with accepting new fosters- assistance with/ at pet events- great for students needing volunteer hours, putting out fliers, assistance with pet supervision at pet events, Assistance with rescue booth set-up- take down etc...

Come Meet Our Pets...

All of our current pets can be also accessed thru our website - www.adoptapet.lucknow.on.ca - via out main page.
All of out pets are located in various foster homes from Kincardine & north to London & areas north- to Cambridge- Guelph- Kitchener... and as such we are unable to arrange multiple viewings.
Only the approved application will be permitted a viewing with a fully filled out application.

We do have planned pet events thru the coming where where some of our adoptable pets will be attending !!
