Pixie's Story...
An Itty Bitty girl with a Big Heart!

That’s our Pixie who found her way to the Coronado Animal Care Facility as a stray.

Pixie is a bit shy as she adjusts to her new surroundings and she takes her time to get to know you. But her trust is growing daily and she is showing us that she loves the companionship of her human pals and she lets us know when she is ready for hugs and kisses.

She has a natural curiosity and loves to check everything out like a hound dog with her nose to ground.

Because of her petite size, Pixie would do best in a home without small children, one that is not overly busy with family ready to give her the attention that she needs. Come meet this tiny Diva and see what a delightful addition she will make to your household!

You can meet Pixie any day at the Coronado Animal Care Facility between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm (except holidays). The Coronado Animal Care Facility is located at 1395 First Street at the south end of the Ferry Landing complex.

If you are interested in adopting Pixie, you must first complete a dog adoption application and meet with a PAWS of Coronado Dog Adoption Counselor. Or, you may complete the online dog adoption application.

If you have any questions, please contact the Dog Adoption Team online or call Karen at 619-437-0220.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Pixie, a Coronado Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua for sale in Coronado, or seeking a Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Coronado.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Coronado already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Coronado breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua breeders who help with Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Coronado paves the way for another one to be saved.
