Ziva is a sweet, soft-hearted Shepherd mix who is looking for a forever home who understands the meaning of "forever" this time around. Usually we try to focus on the future and the amazing qualities a dog has (and Ziva has plenty!) but with Ziva being abandoned the way she was turned her whole life and personality upside down. Her owners left her in their house when they moved. Just left her. It broke Ziva’s heart and it has made her terrified to be abandoned again.. She bonded hard and fast to her foster family and is blossoming into a more confident, happy dog every day. Because of being abandoned, Ziva is quite an anxious dog with change or with new experiences.. What that means is any type of change or new thing, even a small change in her routine or expectation, makes her a ball of nerves and fear expecting the worst. She is on a low dose of Prozac right now and does VERY well so needs a home willing to continue that as well as providing her the training and predictability she needs. Ziva needs a person/family with a very stable, predictable home who will show her love and stability without encouraging her anxiety. She thrives on knowing what is expected of her, she loves having rules and boundaries in place and needs a home who is willing and able to balance that with giving her the love and attention she needs. Ziva is tolerant of other dogs but prefers to be your one and only or with a dog who will respect her space. She is not good with cats. She is housetrained, cratetrained, minds her house manners like a dream, and knows a few basic commands. She is extremely smart and willing to learn anything and everything you would ever want to teach her. She is high energy and loves to play fetch and loves her runs/walks. In the right home, she settles in nicely and the fear of being abandoned dissipates but she needs a home willing to solidly commit to sticking with her through the transition and through her adjustment.
Requirements: Experienced, stable home required. No cats
