My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

IIt's hard to imagine this truly beautiful (inside and out) Schnauzer/Terrier mix in a high-kill Texas shelter. A compassionate Farfel's rescuer saved Butterscotch's life and has nursed his body and spirit back to joy and well-being. It's now getting to the time when Butterscotch is ready to be transported to his new life in Colorado. Although it will be terribly hard for his foster mom to say goodbye...she knows that Butterscotch will have a life of joy and the love of a committed family. The following is a description of Butterscotch by his foster mom:
--Butter is such a sweet puppy just waiting to blossom. I've truly enjoyed watching him learn that the world can be a loving and positive place. He had a hard start - but now he's learning about treats, belly rubs and that he's a very valuable and well-loved pup! Butterscotch may be initially shy, but just give him a moment and you'll have a new best friend. Butter loves to run and play outside...he has exactly the appropriate amount of energy for a 7 - 8 month old, 25 lb healthy pup. We anticipate Butterscotch to be about 38 - 40 or so lbs when full-grown...the perfect medium size pup!
Butter would do well with a family who is home alot to play with and run joyfully in the back yard - he would love that! After he's had exercise and stimulation, Butter's ready to chill on the couch. He loves to snuggle, be petted and doesn't get stressed about anything other than his relationships with other dogs. Being that Butter is just a very young guy, we feel confident that a positive reinforcement trainer can bring him past this stress.
Butter is extremely even-tempered with his people. As well as a very even personality, Butter is also incredibly beautiful! We know it's very hard to tell from this sad shelter photo, but Butter has the most beautiful, expressive eyes we've ever seen!
Butter has a gorgeous, lightly shedding coat...it's still a little early to tell exactly what his adult coat will be like). His hair will require care...a periodic grooming and great nutrition would be perfect to keep his coat as beautiful and as shed-free as possible.
Butterscotch is perfect with all humans...kids of all ages make this little guy so happy. It is recommended at this point that Butterscotch be an only dog. He needs to learn the skills to behave appropriately with canine friends. He can accomplish this with positive reinforcement obedience classes and a commitment by his family. As far as humans, Butter has been absolutely great with everyone. He's excellent with my mom, but might be a bit energetic for an advanced senior.
Butter is a truly smart pup - true to his breeds!! What a gem of a best friend for an active family who wants to include a very cute and sweet dog in their life. He has the potential to be a truly exceptional and loyal companion.
Farfel's is very excited to participate in finding this special guy a loving and committed forever family.
Butterscotch will be arriving on transport in Boulder on 3/20/15. If interested in this sweet guy who is full of love and personality, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com.
