My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

GUNNER is a 9 year old neutered black male Lab who weighs 107 pounds but should weigh about 90. Ebony and Gunner are a wonderful, sweet pair that have hit a rough patch in life. Their family of 9 years is having to relocate due to a loss of job and Gunner and Ebony cannot go. They are very bonded and love each other. They are awesome kissers and just lavish in love. They love belly scratches and Gunner "talks" to you while getting them. They are easy on leash and LOVE the water! Gunner is a big guy at 107 lbs. He really needs to be around 90 lbs so is on a diet. He has some arthritis in his elbow so is on some meds and supplements to help him with that. Getting some weight off will help also. He follows Ebony everywhere! The fosters walked them with Ebony on leash and Gunner off leash as he will not stray from Ebony's side. They like toys and Ebony likes to chase a ball but will not always bring it back. They are great house guests and are house trained. They have not been crated but do not need it. They are good with other dogs but have
not met the foster's pack yet as they are being given time to settle in. He is approved for kids 10+.

Update (4/24): Gunner and Ebony are still waiting for you to call, so they put together a little list to encourage you-
TOP TEN REASONS for adopting a bonded pair:
10. They already get along together.
9. You only have to be trained once.
8. If you find one, you found the other.
7. They are used to being called the wrong name.
6. Both of your hands get an equal workout.
5. Two can eat as cheaply as one (Oh, wait... that’s humans.)
4. No guilt trip leaving them home alone.
3. They entertain each other and you.
2. Walking, talking example of “true devotion”- the ultimate soulmates.
1. You get twice the love in one package!

Update (4/17) What we are looking for to make it easier for our forever home to find us. Here goes. First of all, we want humans that want us for who we are. All we want back is half the love we will show to you. We know sit, stay, lie down, kiss, lean, all the lab basics. If cats are around, we are cool with that. A one story house is Gunner’s preference because his elbows are a bit wonky. I prefer a porch where we can just hang out with you. Take us for a walk every now and then, leash optional because we won’t go far. We will not be underfoot but please let us be in the same room as you are. We will love you and our kisses are our way of showing that to you. Neither of us eats much and I like to play ball once in a while. Let us look into your eyes as we are getting a few scratches. That’s it. All we want is to be loved by someone. Forever.
Gunner

Update (4/8): Ebony and Gunner are a gorgeous affectionate bonded brother-sister pair who are nine years young. They love to be around their peeps, but don’t demand attention- unless it’s through their big brown eyes from across the room. They have done fine with cats and the resident dogs, although Ebony had to be introduced slowly and needed to be assured that Gunner was not in any danger. They enjoy car rides and love their walks- they have never strayed from their foster’s side although they have been walked off leash since the first few days- even before they really knew us. They are not sofa dogs, but like to lie near your feet. When we are out front, they will lie on the porch or meander around in the unfenced front yard until called. Ebony has played ball from time to time but Gunner thinks it’s too much work. They have exceptional manners and can go the full day without having to go outside so they would be great for someone who works, although I am sure they would prefer to have a person around all the time. They only get excited when it’s mealtime and they join the resident dogs when they call us back from the barn. They may be the easiest fosters we have ever had.

Update (4/2): Gunner and Ebony continue to thrive in their foster home but would love a home to call their own. They are the personification of what a lab should be - beautiful, friendly, loving, water babies. They have gentle, wonderful personalities and even allow their foster to dress them up in silly costumes :-)

Update (3/27): We are Ebony and Gunner, the Exfoliator twins, reporting for duty. FM said we may be the easiest fosters they have had; they say we have beautiful manners, aren’t “needy” and can “hold it for 8-10 hours”. We are really enjoying our long walks in the woods off leash- we have already lost 5 pounds each!! We love everybody, although sometimes I, Ebony, prefers that you don’t introduce me to new dogs too quickly; I need a little time to make sure Gunner is not going to be in any danger. We get along fine with the 5 resident dogs- maybe because since we prefer to sleep on the floor and don’t mess with their couches. Cats are “m’eh” to us- we check ‘em out and that’s good enough; it kind of creeps us out the way they rub up against us. Since we’ve been together since we took our first breath, we need to keep it that way. We are way easier to care for than most single dogs but would give you twice as much love back!

Update (3/21): Gunner and Ebony, bonded pair 150188/9, had a pretty busy day today: two walks off leash then they spent time with the resident dogs, met the resident cats- passing their first cat scan, and then spent time trying to figure out the dog door.

Update (3/20): Gunner and Ebony (150188, 150189) are an exceptionally sweet older bonded brother and sister who ask for nothing more than belly scratches and human skin to kiss. They are wonderful on walks, which is great because they both are a bit on the tubby side, and both have been walking off-leash since the third day they came to us. Ebony likes to fetch the tennis ball, but Gunner would rather watch. They love the water, splashing around on the pool cover when the pump stops. They don’t have to be crated and have been fine locked inside for up to nine hours at a time. Gunner has cranky elbows so they wouldn’t do well with a lot of stairs. They haven't had much exposure to children so they are approved for children 10 and up; they will be meeting the resident dogs and cats this weekend, so stay tuned for that update. They are very easy keepers with excellent manners who really do spread joy wherever they go.

Update (3/17): Gunner and Ebony are the sweetest things. They love to be loved and their foster is enjoying loving them, playing with them, rolling on the floor with them. They have had no accidents and give buckets of kisses. Ebony is a ball hound(ess) and Gunner loves having his belly scratched. It is so cute when he "talks" to ask for MORE! Their foster are working to help them lose the needed weight and do some serious walking to get them back in shape. They are going to make someone a once in a lifetime pair. Seriously bonded, tails wag in synch, pee in unison and follow each other everywhere. They are the epitome of what Labs are supposed to be. Great dogs.
