My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

BENTLEY is a 4 year old neutered yellow male Lab who weighs 87 pounds. Bentley is a very sweet boy, and he passed the evaluation test the shelter did with flying colors. Bentley lived outside at his previous home. He was teased through the fence with sticks and other items. So he will nip at items stuck through his crate/kennel, and if his new home has a fence, it will need to be a solid fence. Bentley is good with other dogs. From transporter: Bentley is a sweet boy who did well on his transport. If you get down on the floor and poke fingers or other items at him when he's in the crate, he doesn't like it. So that's something that people will need to be aware of, so they can work on it with him. Bentley was an owner surrender to the shelter, because the owners' neighbors didn't like him. He is approved for kids 10+.

Update (7/11): Bentley rocks! Who sent the timid dog foster home this gorgeous and loving boy?
Bentley arrived today and he's doing great with the resident dogs, Great house manners and super loving boy. He's so loving and is seeking a family he can dote on. He has given my chin so many kisses that I know I can skip my next facial.
My one 'funny story'...he piano surfs! Yes, you read that right...he piano surfs. I cleaned up everything before he arrived but it seems I left an open bag of treats on the piano. From downstairs I head 'barruummff' as paws met keys. THEN...'badump, badump' of dog running down the stairs and he popped up on the sofa and dropped the OPEN treat bag in my lap. Nothing taken...just a 'you missed these and I'd like one ' message. (think I could teach him to text me instead?)
Bentley rocks! Just rocks!

Update (6/5): Bentley is a wonderful guy, he is totally gorgeous and loving! Bentley should go to a home in a quiet area. He can get distracted by things outside of the home/fence. He was not treated well by neighbors in the past, through the fence, and needs someone willing to accept and work with his issues in a fenced yard. He should go to a home with a solid (privacy) fence or a home with no close neighbors. He learned to walk well on an easy walk harness. He is easy to train and is very food motivated. He does tend to have a high prey drive for bunnies and squirrels. He is smart and learns quickly, he learned sit and stay and was learning down. He does have a good recall. Bentley did well at the dog park and really enjoyed playing with the other dogs!

Update (4/1): Bentley continues to be good in the car. He gets along with other dogs during his walks and in the dog park. Bentley likes people and enjoys all toys and treats. If he gets too excited, he can be mouthy, so you need to redirect him with a toy. He walks well on the easy walk harness but is hesitant to walk in the grass, only to do his business. He is doing well with house manners and he is crated when left alone. Bentley is a sweet guy looking for a loving companion who will take him on walks and tell him that he's loved.

Update (3/23): Bentley is a very pretty lab. He is full of excitement and interested in everything that’s going on around him. He hasn't need to be crated. He walks well on the ‘easy walk leash, just needs a little work. He knows sit and lay down commands. He takes treats very gently. He enjoyed the dog park, ran and played very well with the other dogs. He got a bath, and he did fine and didn’t mind the hair dryer. He rides well in the car. He loves any toy you put in front of him, and especially likes to tear apart the fabric toys and throw the stuffing in the air. He gets excited to play with humans, and can be mouthy, so needs to be redirected. During the night he barks at noises he hears- so perhaps he’s not used to ‘city’ living. You have to be careful opening the front door, because he will dart out if not supervised properly. He’s got a beautiful coat, very soft and silky.
