My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dolly is a 7 year old female Yorkie that was found in a crate behind some fast food restaurants. Apparently she was abandoned by her former owners.

When she was found, it was obvious that Dolly had not been cared for. Her hair was stinky, knotted and tangled. She couldn't see past the long hair covering her face. She has very little hair on her torso, which could be an indicator of illness or malnutrition. Her mouth was a fright and she had a large growth protruding from her behind.

Dolly was examined at Paces Ferry Veterinary Hospital and it was determined that she needed to have surgery to remove the growths and her loose teeth were pulled. She now has 4 teeth, but is able to eat well, and has a good appetite. She was also spayed and had blood work and urinalysis plus lab analysis of the polyps removed from her vulva. Dolly spent a total of 3.5 hours on the operating table to have all this done, and she has recovered nicely. Her stitches have all been removed and Dolly is up and about, feeling great now that her health issues have been addressed.

This tiny girl has a lot of spunk and we think she will be a terrific pet once she gets past these health hurdles. All her lab work, including the polyps came back normal, so she will be able to go on and have a long and happy life as this chapter of her life comes to an end. It can only get better from this point on.

Now that she's feeling so much better, I'm seeing her personality really shine. I don't know her age, but she has a "young personality". She wants to cut loose and really play with my guys. Her eyes have a sparkle. And she love to go for walks, where she's very friendly with both dogs and people we meet along the way. ( Because she has little hair on her torso, Dolly needs sunscreen or a coat to protect her from sunburn.) That being said, she's also quite happy to curl up next to me on the sofa and just be calm -- a plus for an older person.

I believe Dolly is house-trained. She pees and poops on our morning walk, and pees on the afternoon and evening walks. She's very regular at this point. I put out newspaper for her overnight, but she hasn't used it for the past week. Three potty trips each day is all she requires.

Dolly's got a great appetite and isn't a picky eater. She's now on Costco's Salmon and Sweet Potato kibble, and gets about 1/4 cup twice a day. Because of her lack of teeth, I add water to the kibble and put it in the microwave for 15 secs, then mash it up with a fork.

Dolly is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and tested negative for heartworms. Her adoption fee is $250. If you are interested in making this little scamp a part of your life and home, please write us at pricelesspets4u@gmail.com and ask for an application to adopt Dolly.
