My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

The very first thing that Kacey the Border Collie/Australian Shephard mix wants to make clear is that he's a love. In this photo, you're not aware of the darkest charcoal black and whitest of white that run through his gorgeous coat. It is with grooming, care and great nutrition that Kacey's coat will show its gorgeous colors. Everything is new to Kacey...his adorable little nose sniffs shyly at an outstretched hand...and then an ear to ear smile if it's a loving touch. And then before you know it, Kacey is next to you on the couch. He's so happy there because his human relationships are so important to him. We have to remember that Kacey comes from a very tough and challenging shelter. This 8-10 month old, 45 lb (anticipated adult weight 50-55 lbs--what a perfect size for a Colorado dog!) Border Collie truly lights up when he feels like he's done a good job... some serious hugging and kind words will send him over the moon. In this spirit of great behavior, Kacey is doing very well at mastering house training skills...quite an accomplishment for a rescue pup!
Kacey's foster moms have the following to say about Kacey:

Kacey is doing great! He really enjoys (and even loves) my 2 dogs and they all have the greatest time playing in my yard. Kacey is very respectful of them. I was very pleasantly surprised at the level of his respect and gentle nature - when they tell him they have had enough play time, Kacey immediately backs off and keeps himself busy in a positive way.
You would also expect a young Border Collie to be a bit crazy and have tons of energy..this isn't the case with Kasey. He has exactly the right amount of energy. He's so responsive..if he jumps on me, I just have to say no and he responds immediately. He also learned the sit command in about 2 minutes..no kidding. It must be about the natural intelligence (and inherent great personalities) of these working-type dogs.
I actually think Kacey is quite calm for a 10 month old. He loves to play and loves to cuddle equally. His temperament is outstanding! I just have to walk into the room and glance at him...it's head to toe waggy tail and huge smile. He is such a sweet boy - anyone who welcomes Kacey into their home is truly getting a gem of a dog!

KACEY'S SUMMARY
Kacey is such a people dog. He loves kids of all ages but they definitely must be very gentle and handle him kindly. We envision Kacey with an active retired couple or individual or a family with older kids who want a beautiful and sweet dog as a family member and best companion. He would be so excited to spend his days in the company of his family. Being a Border Collie/Aussie, Kacey loves physical exercise as well as mental stimulation. He would be a natural in positive reinforcement group obedience classes and agility class. He would love the challenge and is so smart and wanting to please, he would excel. Kacey would also be overjoyed to hike along Colorado paths..enjoying the sunshine and time with his people. His nature is to be very joyful and in moments his silly and fun nature takes over.
Kacey will require periodic brushing (which he really likes) and great nutrition to keep his coat healthy and shiny.
In fulfilling our commitment to zero population growth, Farfels is happy to cover all costs for neutering and a microchip for Kacey if our Denver vet is used.

Kacey is in a foster home in Denver. We are currently searching for a loving and committed home for this special puppy. If interested in this fun and very devoted companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com.
