My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

CATARINA
Born September 21, 2014 Female Red and Brown Tabby DSH.

This certainly has been the year for interestingly colored kittens! Look at Kalista who is red and tabby marbled Bengal mix and here is Catarina another red and brown tabby work of art. Catarina may be part Bengal but I am not sure so I did not describe her as such. She has the look of a Bengal in her head with the sides of her nose parallel to each other and so forth and her tummy is so spotted, but who knows. She is a gorgeous wonderful girl and that is what matters..

Her coloring is however astonishing. She is growing more beautiful each day as her colors develop. She looked nothing like this as a little baby kitten (she appeared grey ), Look what she is growing into! Magic. (What fun it is to be a foster mom.)

Catarina is a curious, playful, cat friendly girl. She is still very young and her confidence is growing as she "gets her feet under her". She is a sweetheart. With strangers she is a little shy still but she warms up quickly. She is very cuddly when she is not dying to go race all over place. She likes head butts. But fun comes first in her life as it should for kittens.

She is a goodhearted very gentle girl. Loud noises or sudden movements like snapping out a towel before folding it can make her jump and look for a place to hide. This startle reflex is common in most kittens. Food is always welcome and a cause for exuberance for her. She loves every type and flavor.

Her fur is silky soft especially on her tummy. I especially love the drama of her facial markings on her cheeks.. I wish I had a photo of the top of her head - her markings there between her ears are also dramatic.

I don't know how she would do with a dog, probably fine, if he or she were well trained to be gentle with cats. She would probably be fine with children over 4 feet high. Younger ones would probably startle her too much though she will grow out of that soon. It would be best if she could have a non-alpha kitty playmate to pal around with. She is not a dominant cat, just a warm hearted playmate sort of cat. Someone will be so lucky to have her companionship.

She eats wet and dry food and is litterbox perfect.

Her foster mom is Harriet in Santa Cruz.
