DOB - 11-11-2014

Todd, brother to Cora and Bonnie, with a different set of character flaws.  He also is a special needs boy that is extremely fearful and if adopted will need to have limited freedom by his new people.  He needs to learn not to be fearful in his new environment and that can only be achieved with limited freedom and constant interaction with people.  He is not a fear biter but tries to withdraw instead.  He seems to do fine with other dogs but does try to be dominant with his littermates.  He does not have recall because of his fearfulness and will run off but seems to stay around the area if he gets loose.

He has never messed in the house so can be housetrained, but he acts claustrophobic when indoors.  He walks well on a lead.  He has never been abused since he has been in the system since 8 wks. of age.  It is just his character and will need a special person who will love him and give him time to adjust.  He cannot just be put out into the yard and be expected to respond well to a person.  That will only accelerate his fear factor.

Above all this he is a sweet boy and gentle natured.

Todd has been neutered, micro-chipped and is on heart worm preventative. He is up to date on his vaccinations.

About Van Zandt County Humane Society

About Our Rescue Group...

The Van Zandt County Humane Society is a countywide no-kill organization comprised of dedicated volunteers to finding forever homes for the unwanted, abandoned and abused dogs and cats of the county. VZCHS is non-profit,organized under 501c3 guidelines.
The Society depends solely on the support of donations and adoption fees. Our ability to save these unwanted animals is limited only by the available number of foster homes and space for holding adoption clinics.
Animals adopted from the Society have been spayed/neutered, tested for parasites, heartworms and feline leukemia, and are current on all immunizations as their age allows.
Our animals are placed in forever homes through adoption clinics held throughout Van Zandt and surrounding counties and our internet site.
We have education programs designed to reach all ages. We offer low cost spay/neuter information as well as assistance through our Community Outreach program.

Our Adoption Process...

We have an adoption form to be filled out, and we like everyone to have a fenced in yard or acreage. The adoption fee is $60.00 for dogs and puppies, and $60.00 for cats and kittens. Sometimes if more two animals are being adopted, then we offer a twofer deal.
All of animals are spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. If the anmial is too young, then a cretificate will be issued , too be used later at a participating vet clinic.
