My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Our foster dogs live as family members in the foster home until chosen for adoption. For more information you can contact her foster mom Michelle by emailing her at michellefrench@greekiv.org

Charlotte is a young, beautiful, friendly, playful, snugly little spaniel mix. She is about 40 pounds: the perfect medium size dog. She has gorgeous red fur that shines in the sunlight and beautiful brown eyes that seem to say everything she thinks.

We first got Charlotte because she was nervous and temperamental at the shelter. After a few days in our foster home, the vet discovered that she was actually quite ill with the worst internal infection he had ever seen in 30 years of veterinary practice. After two weeks of medicine, Charlotte is healthy and amazingly sweet and playful. There is no hint of the nervous, anxious, sleepy, temperamental dog that we brought home. It is clear to us that her behavior issues were actually health issues. Now that she is healthy, rested, and eating good food, she is as charming a dog as you could want!

Charlotte spends her days sleeping on the couch, chewing on bones, snuggling with her foster momma and doggie sisters, and playing fetch with tennis balls. When her foster momma is too busy to throw her ball for her, she occasionally will go to the top of the stairs and drop her ball so she can chase it down. She loves car rides and walks and gets very excited whenever it’s time to do either!

Sweet Charlotte is very well behaved. She is house trained and knows many of the normal dog commands. She is eager to please the people around her and is very smart about figuring out what people want her to do. She doesn’t go through doors until she’s given permission and stays close to her foster momma outside even without a leash. Her big brown eyes have so much love in them that is hard not to fall for her!

Lots of different people have met Charlotte, and the only ones she didn’t get along with swimmingly were very young children. She loved playing with them and was very sweet and gentle, but growled when she wanted to sleep and the kids were still trying to play with her. Other than children under five, she would be a great companion for anyone! With a little more training, she would probably easily pass the therapy dog certification to do nursing home or hospital visits—she has the ideal friendly but calm personality!

Charlotte has been spayed, microchipped, and has received some vaccines. Her adoption fee is $40 and it includes a Hamilton County Dog License. If you are interested in meeting Charlotte, please fill out an application. We cannot arrange meetings until the application is approved. If you have questions about Charlotte, please email Michelle at michellefrench@greekiv.org.
