My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Kevin is a sweet natured, loving and loveable little dog. He is well behaved and gets along great with people and other pets. He is a people-dog and just wants to love and be loved. He is a true little companion and is well behaved in the home and can be trusted to always be doing what he should be doing. Kevin is approximately 4 - 5 years old and currently weighs just under 30 lbs.

Here is what his foster family had to say:

Kevin is a big snuggler and always just wants to be with you. He makes a wonderful companion. He is a very easy going, well behaved dog. He is a very loving dog and has been my little shadow since he came to stay with me. Kevin is very relaxed the majority of the time. Occasionally he gets a short burst of energy when entering a new environment, in the mornings, or when you come home and he’s been waiting for you. Kevin’s shedding thus far has been low. He does need regular baths especially with the snow melting and wet/muddy grounds of Spring. Kevin also needs to see a groomer every now and then to get hair cuts.

Kevin is fairly timid at first but friendly with everyone. He does not jump on anyone and is very calm. He is very sweet to everyone he meets. When meeting new people on walks, he does want to sniff at everyone a little but proceeds with caution and is very composed when doing so. When meeting other pets, Kevin is curious but hesitant. Once the initial sniffs are out of the way, he loses interest. He is very good around other animals and usually doesn’t pay them much attention. Kevin likes to focus on you, not other animals.

Kevin has not shown a fear of anything. He tolerated his baths, doesn’t pay attention to passing cars and even sleeps through a blow drier. He likes to trail behind you. He loves to cuddle up next to you and he sleeps with his head on some part of your body most of the time. He enjoys his walks but mostly just loves to be with you! Kevin is very quiet both in and out of the home. I can’t say I’ve ever really even heard a true bark from him.

Kevin is aware when you are making food for yourself but doesn’t beg. He just watches and when he realizes he’s not getting anything, he goes to sleep. He never grabs anything he shouldn’t. He appears to know his basic commands and listens to “come” and “sit” and “drop it”. He’s a very patient dog who will learn any other commands quickly. He loves to please you and listens well. Kevin is fully house trained but doesn’t let you know when he needs to go. Because of the nature of our home, Kevin isn’t really ever left alone so he currently isn’t being crated. When he is left alone for short periods of time he simply lays and waits for your return by the door. He is very trustworthy in the home and doesn’t get into anything he shouldn’t. In his new home I don't think he will ever need to be crated.

Kevin does really well on the leash. He doesn’t pull at all and stays close by. He never tries to leave your company. He always wants to be near you so he doesn’t escape from the yard or bolt out the door. He willingly jumps into the car and sleeps for most of the car ride! He doesn’t seem to mind it at all.

Kevin loves to be with you and I think he would prefer a home where someone would be home most of the time. He doesn’t need a whole lot of attention when you’re home he just wants to know someone is there while he’s lounging around. He is not a very playful with both people and other dogs. He plays a bit of fetch with a tennis ball or his cow plush toy when inside but he mostly just carries the toy around in his mouth.

I think Kevin would do well in any home. He is so calm and well mannered that he would fit in anywhere. Individuals, couples, families, both young and old would make an excellent home for Kevin.

If you would like to make Kevin a part of your family, please submit an application for consideration.
