My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Andrea, better know as Annie, has been though more bad times than a 5-year-old beagle girl should. This beautiful girl was rescued from a shelter last year. She was a refuge from a puppy mill and had had several litters of puppies before developing a tumor on one of her nipples. But our Annie is a survivor! She bounced back from surgery with a clean bill of health with no signs that the cancer had spread. At 13+ inches and 23 pounds, she is in great shape! Her sweet nature made HBHR think that Annie would be a good apartment dog, but she proved us wrong! Annie let everyone know that she was not happy being alone all day in a kennel. Annie is back with us and is trusting us to find the right home for her this time!

Annie is housebroken, but does have a rare accident when the weather is bad outside or she is feeling stress from a new situation. Annie loves the dog door and the freedom to come and go out into the yard. The yard is her favorite place to be. She loves patrolling for invading varmints and will get vocal when one is spotted! She is interacting well with her foster siblings and will join in on a game of chase when she is on a break from squirrel duty. Annie has done well with small children. She will sit quietly and soak up all the pets they have to give. She never jumps up on little people!

Annie enjoys the attention and pets from her family, but is never possessive of your time or lap. She shares with all as long as she gets her share of your loving touch! She has a chair in the bedroom that she has picked as her place to sleep at night. Annie rarely gets on the big bed to cuddle with you, but will if invited. She needs a yard to explore and a family to love. She will do best in a home where she is not alone all day. Please give this wonderful girl a chance!
