Believe it or not these two precious baby girls were almost another sad statistic at animal control. Had it not been for the care and concern of one dedicated animal control employee the girls would not have made it.
Their story started when their emaciated mother, a purebred Rottweiler, came to animal control dragging a piece of broken chain. She was pathetic, skin and bones, shy, old, ragged. The staff had no idea she was even pregnant she was so thin. This poor unloved girl gave birth to two tiny pups but her valiant efforts to raise her babies were not rewarded, she did not survive. Her tired old body gave out when the girls were just a week old.
Thankfully a long time employee of the shelter stepped up and took the babies on. She has bottle fed them, loved them, nurtured them in place of their mother, and now these two well rounded kids are almost ready to leave the nest!
Bayleigh and Bella are almost 6 weeks old [4.18.08] and will be available for adoption as soon as they are pediatrically spayed. We expect that to happen in the next 3 weeks or so. If you are interested in being considered to adopt one of the girls please fill out our online pre adoption application.
The girls are NOT located at the Humane Society shelter but rather will remain in their foster home until approved adopters are contacted. Please do not expect to visit the girls at the Humane Society shelter, we will accept applications and you will be notified if you are approved and a personal meeting will be arranged.
We have some special requirements concerning the adoption of Rottweiler and Rottweiler mixes. We will require a verifiable vet reference, a securely fenced yard, previous large breed experience, and a home visit prior to adoption.
Thank you for considering a rescue companion, remember, until there are none adopt one!
