My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET little boy puppy

Ta DA! Our puppy brigade has just grown by two members this past Saturday, one of whom is this soft, smoochable little fella, who was rescued from a desperate situation. He's so new, he doesn't even have a name yet. We just call him little man. Our little man here is going to the vet for the thorough check up and once he has the ok, he'll be ready for adoption. In the meantime, this little 8 week old, 5 lb, smooth, red Dachshund puppy will be looked after by ODR, Inc. He's so super smoochable and sweet, that we know he will have lots of folks interested in making him part of their families. This little man will do best in a family with a stay at home parent (work from home or retired) and only older children (over age 12), who are familiar with the special needs of Dachshunds. That lucky family will need to provide puppy training as well as sign an agreement to complete puppy vaccinations and to have him neutered at 5.5 months old.

Like all Dachshunds, this little boy puppy is high energy and enjoys playing and warming his little bones in the sunshine, so along with regular walks around his neighborhood, little boy puppy needs a secure fenced yard to run around and explore safely. While small in stature, doxies are big on personality and don't generally do well in apartments, with all of the noises and traffic that come with multiple dwellings in a confined space. To best set up our doxies and their new families for success, ODR, Inc., adopt to families who live in single family homes with secure fenced yards.

OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):

Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.

WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:

All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $395, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.

Can you give this little boy puppy a happy, carefree life again? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net. The adoption committee will attempt to be in contact with you within 48-72 hours. Please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
