Lucy is a super smart, friendly Lab/Catahoula mix (best guess) rescued from Louisiana. She weighs around 50lbs and has a beautiful spotted leopard coat. She is a super sweet girl who knows how to sit, lay down, fetch and drop it, she adores playing fetch with the ball. She loves children and after some exercise to get the wiggles out is happy to lay and snuggle with her people. Lucy is practicing her leash manners and working on how to say hello to other dogs when out walking but gets along well with the other dog in her current home and gets quite upset when folks walk past whilst on a walk without noticing how cute she is and stopping to say hello! Around 3yrs old, Cookie is house and crate trained. Spayed and up to date on vaccinations. She has some manners to learn (specifically to address her prey drive Aarf is willing to help with the cost of training) and is a funny, adorable girl who just loves to be loved. She responds well to correction and really wants to please, with a little patience / training she will thrive.

Lucy is definitely a project dog who needs an owner with the time, love and patience to persist in her training and allow her to learn boundaries. Catahoulas are fiercely loyal and protective of their pack and need time and space to get used to strangers. Lucy needs an active owner willing to work with us and to commit to keeping her for the duration. We suggest slightly older children just because of her size and boisterous nature but she has been homed with younger kids and loves her cuddles. We will take any situation into consideration.

If you think she might want to come and live with you please see instructions below and fill in our online application asap.  As a purely foster based rescue we have no central location at which you can visit our dogs, consequently we only honor meeting requests from preapproved adopters.  Please fill in our online application at www.myaarf.org; as fully as you can.  It won't obligate you to anything or any particular dog but gives us a great place from which to begin the matching process.  Please allow 24-48 hours for a response from our busy volunteers. Adoption Fee is $350 which includes all transport, vetting (including spay/neuter) and microchip.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Most of our pets are in foster homes throughout the Puget Sound area. We do put on many events throughout the year. Our calendar can be found at www.facebook.com/animalaidandrescuefoundation

Our Adoption Process...

We require an application and a home-check before we adopt out any animal. We do a 30-day trial adoption period and if it's not a good fit during that time, we will refund 75% of the adoption fee. If at anytime (even if years have passed), for ANY reason, you can no longer care for and keep any animal adopted through Animal Aid and Rescue Foundation, please contact us and we will take the animal back.
