My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, my name is Pete and I am a chronic snuggler. I am also sweet and affectionate and just want to be loved. I will make the best companion ever and follow you everywhere just to make sure you are never lonely. I love to give kisses (lots of them). My foster family is working on getting me to stop but it’s so much fun to hear my human foster sisters giggle with delight as I shower them with kisses.

Before the nice folks at BREW rescued me, I spent most of my life in an outdoor pen with my sister (She was lucky enough to find her forever home already). I am a little timid and shy. Loud noises, sudden movements and new people tend to scare me so I bark at them and try to hide under chairs and tables. I have just started working on my socialization so with time and patience, my foster Mom says I will be ok. I really like other dogs as long as they aren’t too large. There is nothing better than a good snuggle or run with my old crabby foster brother. I would love my forever family to have a doggie brother or sister for me. I am really smart. I go potty outside every time and have since day one! My foster Mom is so proud of me for learning so quickly. I know how to sit and stay (well I’m working on stay, but I can do it sometimes). I am a medium to high energy pup and can jump really high. Mom thinks I would do really well with some agility training. I have an extreme dislike for a crate. I am content to stay in the laundry room or bathroom with a baby gate while my foster family is away. I don’t bark when they leave but I sure do when they come home. I want to make sure they know I’m still here and happy to see them. I would probably be ok with free reign of the house since I’m not destructive (unless its garbage or a soft toy) but I’ve only been allowed to do that a couple times when they have been gone short periods of time.

I was diagnosed with heartworm when I first arrived and just finished my last dose and proclaimed healthy. That’s awesome, because I never realized that I was sick! I do have to take heartworm preventative now every 30 days but that’s cool with me because they are yummy. I had to be kept fairly inactive while undergoing my treatments so I’ve only gone for a couple walks and I really need some training in that department. Now that the weather is nice and I’m on the mend, foster Mom says we are going to be doing a lot of practicing!

Foster Mom wants me to tell you that I am the most beautiful red color she has ever seen and I have one of the gentlest souls too. Please consider making me a part of your family. I promise to provide you with years of love and laughter!
