My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi friends! My name is Bunny. Yes, a beagle named Bunny. You humans are so funny. I guess I am named Bunny because I am soft, tiny and sweet just like a little Bunny and I do have those famous floppy ears.
It is easy to see how darn cute and petite I am only about 25 pounds and we think I am about 8 years young. For a little girl I have endured a lot. My dog prayers were answered when Midwest BREW saved me from a high kill shelter in Central Ohio. Before that I suffered my fair share of abuse. I am sad to report that I was probably kicked and hit a lot and it takes me a little while before I build trust with humans. It scares me when people walk up on me but if you give me time and have patience I will get better. Since I have been in my foster home I have already improved! I love my foster mom and beagle sister very much. They understand that I have fears and they let me be me. They encourage me, talk softly, kneel down for me and give me space if I need it and I am feeling much more secure in my new foster home.
Getting back to my beagle foster sister, well she is important to me. I definitely need a canine companion (or companions!) to show me the ropes. I follow her everywhere and copy what she does. Except I play with toys more. She thinks the toys are old and boring but I love them! We have so much variety. I carry them from room to room, try to take them outside, I like to hide them and I even take them to bed with me at night. When I am not playing, I like to take naps or sleep in a warm sun spot. I love to cuddle. I cuddle with my foster mom and beagle sister any chance I get. I sometimes give beagle kisses but very gentle ones.
As far as my manners, I am very well behaved. I have never once had an accident in the house. I don’t much like being in the crate or gated in a room, I will escape but that being said I have been behaving myself and I will just play with the dog toys or a Kong when I am alone. Going on walks is a new experience for me and even if my foster sister goes, I still get scared. We are working on it little by little.
Keep in mind that I am a true rescue girl and I am not used to the new life that BREW has given me but I am a beagle and I am worth it! How can you resist my sweet face? Call Midwest BREW and ask for Bunny!
