Here's what the humans have to say about me:
*Requirements: Physically Fenced In yard.. No Electric Fences*
*Patient Home*
Jake starts off a little shy and needs time to warm up and build trust. Because of this original shy period, we consider him a flight risk.
Jake was living on a farm and when his owner decided he no longer wanted him, they threatened to shoot him if someone didn't take him.
Jake is 2-3 years old and about 33 pounds. He is neutered, up-to-date on all vaccinations and is current on heartworm and flea preventative. He is house trained and crate trained. He gets along well with dogs and cats. He loves to play especially with toys, he's great at tug of war. He loves to run and is very good on a leash.
An experienced owner is needed for Jake. We have had Jake professionally evaluated and as it turns out, he was "trained" to tug at the clothing of guests as they depart or walk away. This is typical of behavior you see in a small puppy as they grab at your pant leg. This behavior is traditionally corrected at the puppy stage but in Jake's case, it was encouraged and actually reinforced as a "game". The children of the family are most likely the culprit. As Jake grew into an adult, his game was no longer tolerated by the adults (and most likely children) so they were going to end his life.
In foster care, this "game" of his is being re-directed to an acceptable behavior. He is learning quickly and doing quite well. His new owner will be instructed on how to continue with this behavior modification activity.
It's very sad that a behavior TAUGHT to him is the reason they were going to DESTROY him! Jake deserves a second chance!!! He is such a loving, playful boy who deserves a great life!!!
All Dogs Unlimited Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on all shots, and are given a monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventative. Upon adoption, all vet records and any current medications are provided to the adopter.
If you are interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application located at http://www.dogsunlimitedrescue.org/Adopt.html
THE SUBMISSION OF YOUR APPLICATION DOES NOT GUARANTEE AN ADOPTION NOR DOES IT OBLIGATE YOU TO ADOPT. Multiple applications are accepted for any available pet and a home is chosen that is the best match between the available pet and the potential furever family. Your application will be processed as quickly as possible and if approved, a home visit would be scheduled. No adoption is final until an Adoption Agreement is presented and agreed to by both parties.
Our goal is to find the right match of our dogs to their new family so all involved are furever happy! Questions: email adopt@dogsunlimitedrescue.org
And THANK YOU for considering a rescue dog for your family!
