Tad's Story...
HI! My name is Tad and it’s just a great name for me because I am a “tad” bit of a lot of things – playful, quiet, friendly, shy, great with other kitties, happy to sit by myself in my kitty bed…..you get the idea! I have very handsome tabby markings and just look at how intently I look into your eyes. I’m about six or seven months old and a big boy at about nine pounds – I’m kind of long and it looks like I am going to be a big boy when I am all grown up. I’d love to be adopted with my buddy Saki but it’s not essential – but I do need to be adopted into a home where there is another kitty who likes kitties, as I really do best with a kitty friend around me. And yes, I am not a Maine Coon but the good folks at Maine Coon Adoptions rescued me and a whole bunch of my short haired friends from a bad situation. I am as sweet as a Maine Coon – you just don’t have all that fur to deal with! I am up to date with shots, tested negative, microchipped and neutered.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Tad, a Oakland Domestic Shorthair kitten was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Oakland, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair kitten from a breeder in Oakland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Oakland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Oakland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Oakland paves the way for another one to be saved.
