Shem's Story...

Hi there. My name is Shem. You might remember my namesake from the Old Testament. Shem was the eldest of Noah’s three sons and the ancestor of the Semitic peoples. Whoa! What a legacy to live up to!  But believe me, I’m trying in my kitty way. My personality is classic Maine Coon. I am very outgoing and friendly. I can be a bit talkative at time as well. I guess you could say that I love being the center of attention. And, frankly, it’s not tough to find yourself the center of attention when you’re as handsome and affectionate as me. And take a look at my whiskers!  I’m seven years old and weigh twelve pounds.  I’ve got green eyes and tortoiseshell-colored fur (with the cutest white paws and chest!). All in all, I am the complete Maine Coon package! Oh, I even get along with other cats and probably dogs too. I've been neutered, micro-chipped, tested negative and am up-to-date on all my shots.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Shem, a Oakland Maine Coon cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Maine Coon for sale in Oakland, or seeking a Maine Coon cat from a breeder in Oakland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Oakland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Oakland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Maine Coon breeders who help with Maine Coon rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Oakland paves the way for another one to be saved.
