Harriet's Story...

Hello! My name is Harriet. There is a great children’s book called “Harriet the Spy” and sometimes I like to think of myself as a spy - with my black-and-white tuxedo coloring. Kind of like James Bond, right? Except a girl. And a kitty. And I have to admit that, truth be told, all that running around just sounds like a lot of work. No, I’m more of an easygoing type who enjoys sitting around and, well, taking it easy. You know, hanging out. I’m four years old and weigh nine pounds. I’m fine with other cats and I am so laid back, and pretty confident, that I could do fine with dogs as well. I have been spayed, microchipped, tested negative and am up to date on all my shots.

Other Pets at Maine Coon Adoptions

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Harriet, a Oakland Maine Coon cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Maine Coon for sale in Oakland, or seeking a Maine Coon cat from a breeder in Oakland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Oakland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Oakland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Maine Coon breeders who help with Maine Coon rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Oakland paves the way for another one to be saved.
