My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there, my name is Clifford. I’m a big boy weighing about 65 pounds and I’m only 10 months old. I must say that before I was rescued my life was filled with pain and heartache. You see, for as long as I can remember I lived on the end of a chain. Ignored and forgotten, I watched my family as they would come and go. I watched other dogs go on walks without me; all I could do is sit and stare. Left out in the hot scorching sun and on cold winter days I watched life pass me by. “Was I not a good boy”, I often asked myself. The nights were the worst for me; broken and overwhelmed with despair, I would whisper into the dark, “Please set me free from these chains”. I longed to be part of family, where their house is my home too. I prayed every day for a new home with a loving family; one that needs me! One day, I watched as a small woman with white hair and a warm smile came up to the front door. She asked the people in the house if she could have me. I stretched my chain as far as I could to the edge of the house so I could hear. Without hesitation the family inside said “Yes, and explained that they would be moving soon”. The news stung and tears started to fall as reality hit; that my family was going to leave me behind. The kind woman told me to come with her, together we walked to her house. She told me that life was about to change for the better for me. Although I didn’t understand what she meant, I felt at ease and trusted her. A few days later, some people came to meet me. They said they were from a rescue and told me that from this moment on, I would never live on a chain only in a home with people that loved me. My heart swelled with joy and this time my tears were happy ones. I have been doing well in my foster home. My foster mom has taught me doggy manners and all kinds of neat stuff. She said I’m a fast learner and am ready for a family of my own. I love walks and was told I walk well on a leash. I enjoy riding in the car; I sit quietly and look out the window. I like to play and romp with other canines and most of all I love to snuggle and hang out with my human friends. You only have one life, so live it to the fullest and with someone you love.
