My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Horton is our very special 10’ish year old red, natural-eared Dobe who came into DAR&E after being picked up as a stray, grossly overweight and heartworm positive. He’s down to 81 pounds now, which is a good weight for him. His heartworm is being treated the slow method and he’ll need to be kept on his monthly Heartguard pills to continue that treatment. He’s also on arthritis meds to help his joints after what was probably years of carrying all that extra weight. Horton feels great now though! He’s got the typical aches and pains of an older boy, but he’s a happy camper. He LOVES everything and everyone. He’s always happy and trots enthusiastically everywhere he goes. He’s loving and affectionate and has made it his mission in life to give kisses to anyone and everyone he meets, as many as possible! Horton is a very special soul and a favorite with everyone who meets him. He is looking for a loving home who will take care to keep him comfortable and will shower him with all the love he will give 10-fold back in return. Horton can do some stairs, but he’ll do best where he doesn’t have a lot of them. He gets along with all dogs – he’s low man on the totem pole in my pack, and would be fine with older kids. Given his age a high energy/ active home would probably not be best. We’re thinking retirement home for Horton! :o) This goofy, affable Dobie will warm your heart every day with his happy, easy-going nature and loving spirit.
