Bear & Peanut's Story...
These bubbly brothers are Bear and Peanut, two lab/shepherd brothers that would love a great home of their own. The boys had a home, but they were turned in to us because their skin conditions were causing allergies for a child in the household. Bear (all brown) and Peanut (mostly yellow) are a little over a year old and couldn't be happier to be getting the good care and medical attention that they need. Both boys are extremely thin, and both have demodex mange, which we are now treating. We expect them to make a full recovery from the mange, and they're both eating well so they'll be putting weight on soon as well. Even in the neglected condition that they are in, the boys just couldn't be any nicer. Peanut mushes all over you as soon as he meets you while Bear takes a minute to check you out, then whines with excitement when he realizes you're okay. The boys are young, active and silly, and would love a home with a nice yard to romp and roam in. Bear and Peanut are very excitable, but they sit instantly when asked and walk like perfect gentlemen on a leash. They seem to like other dogs and love people of all ages. Since the boys are quite bonded with one another, we will be looking for a home where they can stay together forever. File#24558 and 24559 3/25/15

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Bear & Peanut, a Forked River Shepherd (Unknown Type)/Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shepherd (Unknown Type)/Labrador Retriever for sale in Forked River, or seeking a Shepherd (Unknown Type)/Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Forked River.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Forked River already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Forked River breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shepherd (Unknown Type)/Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Shepherd (Unknown Type)/Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Forked River paves the way for another one to be saved.
