MEET KOBIE

LATEST NEWS FROM KOBIE's FOSTER FAMILY:

KOBIE is doing great! His weight is up nearly to where it should be. KOBIE is very playful. He loves to fetch and will bring you a toy (loves the squeaky best) and wants you to throw it for him. He is just so happy to be able to run he will just run all over the house and backyard. KOBIE also loves to love...and he loves to sit on someone's lap. KOBIE does well around other well behaved doxies, has been traveling in the car, loves going for walks and is house trained. He is a really good dog and doesn't bark. He is still afraid to go into the bathroom, but has mastered going into the kitchen.

If you compare this update to his original bio (below), you'll see that KOBIE is a very resilient little fellow and does well in a loving family setting. If you haven't sent in your application yet, and are looking for a loving doxie to share your life with, KOBIE could be the one!

ORIGINAL BIO
When you think of how resilient little rescue Dachshunds can be, this little man will probably be first on your mind. He was just rescued last night and is spending the day at the veterinary spa being pampered and getting a thorough examination, shots, dental care and being neutered. KOBIE has spent his 18 month life locked alone in a room without love or human contact. He is malnourished (weighing only 8.7 lbs, instead of the 11-12 that he should weigh). He is sweet, but is very afraid and trembling a lot right now. KOBIE needs a lot of unconditional love and affection from a doxie savvy home. KOBIE will do best in a family with a stay at home parent (work from home or retired) and only older children (over age 12), who are familiar with the special needs of Dachshunds, especially rescue Dachshunds. If you are a doxie savvy family with room for a high needs, yet sweet and resilient pup, please complete our Adoption Application and schedule a time to meet KOBIE.

Like all Dachshunds, KOBIE is high energy and enjoys playing and warming his little bones in the sunshine, so along with regular walks around his neighborhood, KOBIE needs a secure fenced yard to run around and explore safely. While small in stature, doxies are big on personality and don't generally do well in apartments, with all of the noises and traffic that come with multiple dwellings in a confined space. To best set up our doxies and their new families for success, ODR, Inc., adopt to families who live in single family homes with secure fenced yards.

OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):

Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.

WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:

All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $395, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.

Can you give KOBIE a happy, carefree life? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net. The adoption committee will attempt to be in contact with you within 48-72 hours. Please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
