Mac's Story...
1 yr, 6 mos. old Shih Tzu Neutered boy about 16lbs, we will not adopt him out to a family with young children. Mac is a very cool little dog. He loves to play with his people friends and his dog friends. Mac believes himself to be much larger than he really is, and he's so cute we don't have the heart to tell him he's just a little guy. Mac is being fostered with three large dogs of various breeds, and two cats. He plays all day long with his foster brother and sisters. Mac is crate trained, and almost completely housebroken. He rides very well in the car. Mac walks well on a leash. He can get a little territorial if he thinks a stranger is encroaching too close to his pack and he will growl and bark to let them know he doesn't approve, but he will obey when ordered to stop. Mac's new home will need to be aware of this and work with him to correct it. Mac doesn't mind if you put your hands near his food, but he gets very excited when its time to eat, so its best to prepare his food on the counter and make him sit and calm down before feeding him or he'll make a mess. He rarely barks, and loves to sleep in his doggie bed. He shares his toys and bones gladly. He enjoys being carried around the house and to have his tummy rubbed. Why Adoption is a Great Option

Mac, a Westport Shih Tzu dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shih Tzu for sale in Westport, or seeking a Shih Tzu dog from a breeder in Westport.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Westport already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Westport breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shih Tzu breeders who help with Shih Tzu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Westport paves the way for another one to be saved.
