My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Courtesy Posting

Rebel is a handsome Australian Shepherd who was turned into St Hubert's Animal Welfare Center by an owner who could not longer care for this boy. Rebel is nearly 8 years old and is a wonderfully sweet companion. He adores all of the humans who dote on him at the shelter and is unphased by the kitties in the cat room. While he is okay with most dogs, he would require a meet and greet should a potential adopter have another dog.

Rebel is a special needs fellow, but so worth the extra attention he needs. St Hubert's did blood work on him and it showed he has a thyroid issue and will need to be on Soloxine daily for life, an inexpensive medication. He was x-rayed and found to have kidney stones so a urethrostomy and a cystomy were performed. He did well with surgery and is now on prescription U/D dry and wet food, which he will need to stay on for life. He does need to be brought outside every 3 hours to urinate in order to keep urine from sitting in his bladder and possibly increasing the stone formation. A crate and wee-wee pads at night should do the trick!

Rebel loves to play and take walks, but most of all, he longs to be part of a loving family once again. If you are looking for a new best buddy to share your day with, you can find Rebel at St Hubert's in North Branch, NJ. This 38 pound fellow is neutered and up-to-date on vaccinations.

Rebel is a Courtesy Posting and is not an SGRR dog. Please call St Hubert's at (908)526-3330 for more info and visit Rebel's bio on Petfinder.com.
