Spice's Story...
Spice is a gorgeous brown tabby who is approximately 2 years of age. She was rescued in August 2014 from a life on the streets after being discovered hanging around near a local grocery store. Heavily pregnant, she was rescued just in time to give birth to her four kittens in the safety of her rescuer's home one week later. A devoted and attentive mom, Spice still loves snuggling with her two remaining kittens who have not yet been adopted, Grimm and Pepper. Spice is an independent girl who enjoys attention but prefers not to be picked up and likes to do things on her own time and in her own way. She gets along well with the other cat and large lab cross dog in her foster home and should do well with respectful children. Having grown quite affectionate and social, she likes to be where her people are, and is comfortable in her new life as a house cat. If you are interested in Spice please send us an email to;

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Spice, a Douglas Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Douglas, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Douglas.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Douglas already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Douglas breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Douglas paves the way for another one to be saved.
