My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

CONNER is a 8 month old neutered black male Lab who weighs 41 pounds. We are calling Brianna, Conner & Mannix the SHOE PUPPIES. I had a call from one of the shelters we work with who told me they had three 8 month old black pups surrendered to them. They've been through a lot in their short lives. They showed up as strays at a rescuers home, their ribs were showing and were extremely underweight. She was feeding them 3 times a day and they stayed in her garage at night as there was no room in the house. She notified animal control and the local vets then kept them a few days but no one showed up to get them so she turned them over to Animal Control. The rescuer had no way to confine them and they were scouring the neighborhood stealing shoes from people's front porches, they counted 16 different shoes when he picked them up. They're all very sweet, easy going and dog friendly. Good with other dogs shelter had them out with several with no problems. Knows some commands sit, come. Haven't been on lead much will probably do better with an Easy Walk Harness. Reported as crate trained. He is approved for kids 10+.

Update (4/24): Conner continues to show his fosters his great disposition. On a recent trip to the vet the was very well behaved and calm. With limited distractions he has mostly mastered sit and down, and is almost learning "touch." Conner is still working on learning "come."

Update (4/9): He's doing well is learning sit and down. He loves attention but also is happy to settle down on his bed with a chewy of some sort. He sleeps through the night in his crate in our bedroom. He likes playing with our dog, but I think he'd also be fine as an only dog if he wasn't left alone too long. He was a bit shy that first day we brought him home, but since then has shown himself to be a happy go lucky little guy. He didn't seem to know about balls and fetch at first but now he will play a bit.

Update (4/3): Conner continues to do well and is practicing all the commands he's learning. He has chased the resident cat several times, so no cats for Conner. He sleeps in his crate

Update (3/30): Conner is sweet and petite boy, with a charming, prancing step and upturned nose. He is a bit shy at first but warms up quickly. He enjoys playing as much as cuddling up on your lap, which he actually can fit on! He hasn't learned about chasing balls and fetching yet, but appreciates a good chew toy. He is eager to please and is quickly learning sit, down and come, and to walk nicely on a leash. He does fine in a crate. Conner will benefit from some confidence building and more time getting used to family living, as well, of course, as basic obedience training. He is still learning about stairs, to control his mouthyness, not to put his paws up on the counters, how to ask to go out and all that good stuff. He's not good with the cat. He's a cute puppy.
