My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

BUBBLES is a 2 year old neutered black female Lab who weighs 50 pounds. Bubbles is a sweet young thing who deserves a much better life. In her former life she was tied up outside or stuck in the basement. Thankfully, that life is ancient history. From shelter and LR evaluator: Bubbles is super sweet and so in need of love and TLC. She is shy at first, but warms up and bonds quickly. She would prefer your attention and petting over treats or anything else. She is starved for love. She is also underweight and could use some regular nutrition. She is great around other dogs, doing a little "dance" to get them to play! She has a lot of scars and hair loss on her face, but it is already healing nicely. She is destined to be a classic beauty. Lived with kids as young as 3 and did well with them - approved for kids 3 and up. Even though she is small, a harness is recommended. The shelter said she really enjoys walks! From LR transporter: Bubbles was a scared and shy little girl... who then cuddled with my wife the whole way to the vet. Sweetness -- we wanted to take her home! We will be anxiously watching for this sweet girl to come out of her shell and experience a real Lab Life. She is approved for kids 3+. Note: Bubbles needs to go to a home with a solid fenced-in yard.

Update (4/27): Bubbles did a great job meeting new people this weekend! She likes when you sit at her level so she can climb on your lap and give you gentle kisses to get to know you. She prefers her canine companions to be a bit on the submissive side, because dogs in her face can scare her. With the cool nights, she's enjoyed snoozing in front of the fireplace, and spent this sunny Sunday just basking in the sunshine. We had a hot air balloon over the house this evening and though the resident dogs followed their normal routine of barking at it, she just sat on the porch and watched. She's really a sweet girl and makes me smile every day. She would love to find her forever family and start showering them with love!

Update (4/22) Bubbles has been with her foster a few days now, and she's coming out of her shell nicely! When playing outside in the yard, she's not shy at all and will fetch every tennis ball thrown, and sometimes likes to hoard them in a pile. She tends to stay focused on doing her own thing, and if the rest of the pack (the four resident labs) is off barking at the neighbor dogs or chasing along the fence line, she doesn't feel the need to get involved in such nonsense. She's eating great and her boney structure is filling in a little. She's been getting coconut oil in her food as she had a bit of dandruff and she thinks it's a delicious treat. She's definitely a velcro dog and wants to be where her foster is but she doesn't really need to be underfoot as long as she can see her foster. She sleeps in the bedroom with the pack and on a dog bed on the floor. The human bed is at max capacity and though she initially jumped up there, she only had to be shown once that the dog bed was hers and that's her special spot now. She also sleeps through the night with no accidents.
Bubbles would love someone who is home more than not as she doesn't love being in her crate. She will go in easily, but will cry a bit once in there to let you know she thinks it's unfair that you have to leave her. The balance to this is that when you do get home, she's ridiculously filled with joy! This girl has a lot of love and devotion in her. If you show her a gentle touch, some love, and a tennis ball, you'll win her heart and have a wonderful companion

Update (4/19)Bubbles is a very sweet girl who is a little bit shy, but comes around pretty quickly with a gentle hand, a lot of love, and maybe a rousing game of fetch. She was excellent in the car, just snuggled in for a nap. Once home, she met the resident dogs beautifully and was happy to join them for a game of chase/fetch. She likes the other dogs just fine and plays nicely with them, but I think she's really looking for a human to bond with. She seems to bond quickly, and within a short time was following me around the yard at my heel while I collected toys. She loves to romp and play in the fenced yard. She does walk really well on the leash and harness. She's not crazy energetic for a young girl and would just like a bit of fetch or maybe a walk, and then she'll be ready for a nap.

Bubbles would prefer not to be crated, but she actually goes in okay. She just cries a bit while in there. She's completely house trained, and did really well sleeping out of the crate last night. Her snout is a bit bald right now from rubbing it on concrete while in the kennel, but it's nearly healed and her fur is already growing back there. It doesn't bother her at all. She's a really great pup who is going to reward someone who gives her a lot of love with cuddles and joy.

Update (4/1): Bubbles is now taking advantage of the unlimited hugs and petting available at her foster home. She could not be sweeter or more loving! There is nothing she likes more than laying with her head on your lap being petted. She is a bit shy and fearful of new things, but has already showed what a strong, brave girl she can be. Bubbles has conquered the four scary steps and two doorways she has to go through to get into the house after only 3 trips outside! Bubbles has completely bonded with the female in her foster home but is a bit unsure about the male. If he's the only one available she will ask for pets, but she doesn't completely relax when he is around. She did cuddle up with him for a nap this afternoon, so she's making progress. She does not pull at all on leash. Bubbles also met two new dogs today and was very calm and well behaved with both of them. She hasn't seemed really interested in any playing. She rides well in the car and seems to be house trained. She hasn't had any accidents in the house.
