My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, my name is Winne. I am a gentle, multi-colored female Afgan hound mix. I am around 1 year old and about 55 lbs. I will be participating in the HALT program through early May where I will be taught basic obedience by a group of at-risk teens. While they're teaching me, I'll be helping them build their self-esteem, learn how to work as a team, how to be patient, and how to care for dogs like me. When the HALT volunteers came to the shelter to choose dogs I was so happy to see them, and feel special being chosen to be part of such an important program. I was really thin when I got to the shelter, but they've been helping me get to a better weight for me. As classes continue, the volunteers with the program will get to know more about my personality, and will be able to share more of my story.

Applications are being accepted on Winnie. She will be ready to go to her new forever home once classes are complete in early May. All HALT dogs are spayed or neutered, fully vaccinated, micro-chipped, and on heartworm preventative. Message us through Adopt-a-Pet. Facebook, or email HALTdogs@comcast.net for more information. Due to our home visit policy we are only able to accept applications for homes in the Knoxville, TN area.
