Elroy here!!  I'm an adorable special needs boy and I can't wait to have a new forever home!  Not much is known about my life before I came to my foster home, and since I can't talk I can't share my story.  I am blind in one eye, but it doesn't slow me down at all and if I didn't tell you, you would never know. My foster Mum thinks that I might have a little difficulty hearing.   I'm a little pigeon-toed, but my Foster Mum says it adds to my adorable factor.  I take anti-seizure medication daily, it controls my seizures and it's not very expensive.  Most of my seizures are no big deal, but they can occasionally be worse if I'm stressed.  Even though I'm not exactly like all the other dogs, the wonderful things about me will shine through.... I know you'll love me if you give me a chance.  I have basic manners.  I am a very quiet and well behaved boy when I'm in the house and just want to curl up on my bed for a little nap.  It takes me a little while to settle in and make myself at home, but once I do I'll be your best bud!!  I am house trained, but sometimes I get too busy and forget to go when I'm outside so someone that is home a lot so I have lots of opportunity to go out is best for me.  Check out the video of me playing with my foster brother - we have a BLAST!!!  I have been known to eat poop, so my new family needs to know this and must pick up after me immediately. I'm not like  other dogs, so my new family must be willing to accommodate all of my specialness. If you are interested in me, please start by completing an application via our website - under the "Adopt" tab and "Forms/Applications" and "Adoption Applications."

Please Note: Applications are considered on an individual basis, and fencing is preferable.  All adoptive homes must be within a reasonable distance from a DRAW volunteer for home visits and follow up care.  A home visit, reference check and vet check must be completed prior to adoption.

About Doberman Rescue Alliance of Wisconsin, Inc.

About Our Rescue Group...

Doberman Rescue Alliance of Wisconsin, Inc. (DRAW) is a non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to the rescue, care and adoption of Doberman Pinschers in need. We are an all-volunteer organization comprised of individuals across the state of Wisconsin that are devoted to the breed. Our Mission - To utilize every opportunity to assist a Doberman in need, regardless of situation, age or health concerns; to ensure their health and happiness, and place them in loving forever homes; To assist and educate current Doberman owners, potential adopters and the general public on the Doberman Pinscher breed.

Our volunteers have extensive rescue experience working with the Doberman Pinscher breed, have assisted with the successful placement of hundreds of Dobes, and have come together to strengthen the rescue network. Our foster homes are comprised of experienced and loving volunteers. All potential adopters are fully evaluated, including home visit and background check. We follow up with each adopter, and require that in the event an adopter can no longer care for the dog, it be returned to DRAW so we can ensure each dog’s safety and happiness throughout their life.

Our Adoption Process...

The steps in our adoption process are:

1. Commitment - Please seriously consider your lifetime commitment to a dog and confirm that the Doberman breed is a good fit for your life and family before adopting.

2. Adoption Application - Complete and return the adoption application.

3. Home Visit & Vet Check - A volunteer will contact you and schedule an appointment to visit your home. The purpose of this visit is to verify the information you provided in your application (i.e., fenced-in yard, crate, etc.) and to ensure that we are matching you with the correct Rescue Doberman for your home environment. We request all members be present at the home visit. A vet reference check will also be completed. (Please note that the adoption process CANNOT be completed until a home visit has been performed).

4. Application Decision – If the steps above are satisfactory, your application will be approved. We reserve the right to refuse an applicant if, in our judgment, the home situation is not compatible with the needs of a Doberman, if the breed is not suitable for the applicant, if the applicant has a criminal record or if the vet check is not satisfactory.

5. Determine Potential Matches - After the home visit & vet check, if your application is approved, you will be contacted by an Adoption Coordinator who will discuss available dogs that may be a good match for you.

6. Meet Potential Matches - Your Adoption Coordinator will then schedule a time for you to meet potential matches. It may take some time to find the right dog for you, and we will do our best to continue the search for a compatible dog.

7. Adoption Contract & Donation - You will be required to complete an Adoption Contract at the time of adoption. An adoption donation of $250 for dogs under eight/$150 for dogs over eight is requested at the time of the adoption. This donation helps reimburse DRAW for costs incurred on behalf of the rescue dogs. Under special circumstances, we potentially could lower this fee (i.e., elderly/special needs dogs, etc.). All adoption fees should be made payable to Doberman Rescue Alliance of Wisconsin, Inc.

8. Follow Up – An Adoption Coordinator will contact you post-adoption to confirm you and your new family member are happy. If, for any reason, the adoption is not satisfactory, Doberman Rescue Alliance of Wisconsin requires that the dog be returned to DRAW. DRAW retains the right to reclaim any rescue dog that is neglected, improperly cared for, or allowed to roam free.
