My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We often wonder what is running through people's minds when they make a decision to dump a wonderful and loving dog because she's become inconvenient...where is their heart?? Such are our thoughts with Sonnet...and it's only great luck and a few loving humans who changed her destiny. Sonnet was dumped in a high-kill shelter when she turned about 2.5 and was no longer puppy-cute and novel Just in time, a compassionate rescuer happened along the way and took pity on this adorable Poodle/Yorkie mix. To our joy, Sonnet was meant to survive her ordeal and get rescued. She was immediately brought to be vetted and temperament tested and passed all with flying colors. She is now safely in her foster home...being nurtured with love and hugs while being taught skills so important in the development of any dog.

Sonnet is so over-the-top beautiful and loving - her photo absolutely doesn't do her justice! She tries so hard but we need to be reminded that she's just a young lady...just about 24 to 36 months old and 15 lbs (perfect hiking size)... who needs to be shown the way by a patient and loving human who understands the boundaries necessary for any dog. Sonnet is a willing student...with frequent socialization with both dogs and humans, she will continue along the path of a loving and well-adjusted adult dog. Positive reinforcement group training class is a great tool for family bonding as well as developing great behavior when out in the community. We are searching for an involved family for Sonnet. She would love nothing more than being with her people...on their lap is a great secure spot for her. It will be dog-lovers who choose to have their dog involved in their life that would be perfect for this sweet pup. We don't want Sonnet to be left behind while her people spend long hours at work or other activities. She's very portable at 15 lbs and would be a great companion for walks, riding shotgun in the car, or visiting with dog-friendly friends. Sonnet would be overjoyed with coming along with her person....errands, adventures or just snuggle-time speaks to Sonnet. She just naturally has a sweet temperament..while initially a bit shy.. that is perfect for a family with older children, cats and other gentle dogs. Sonnet would also do very well as an only dog…she doesn't require that relationship to be happy.
Sonnet is definitely a Poodle mixed with either a Yorkie, or just a bit of Silky Terrier, which would explain the larger 15 lb size. We believe Sonnet to be a non-shedding pup (but that must be determined after she gets her healthy coat back) and will require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her cotton-soft coat healthy and matt-free.

Sonnet will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 4/3/15. If interested in this very kind and sweet girl who is full of love and personality, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com.
