My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Welcome Pearl...a gorgeous sable smooth coated female. She's about 14 lbs and ~8-9 yrs old. Don't let her age fool you. She's got plenty of spunk left in her. She's leash & crate trained. She is also house trained. She gets along well with other dogs of similar size & adores children (this is a huge bonus in doxies.) She's an absolutely perfect little girl looking for her forever home. Here's what Pearl has to say for herself...

"Hi, my name is Pearl! I am a very happy girl. I enjoy my toys, snuggling with my people on the sofa, and playing with the other dachshund in my foster home. I sleep in a kennel at night in my foster mom’s room, with lots and lots of blankets (and the door open). I will stay in a kennel when my foster family leaves, but I cry for a little bit then settle down. I love my foster kids and the neighbor kids, too! When I came to DREAM, I was missing a lot of fur, but it’s growing back now. I like to go for walks, run around in my back yard, and am an active middle aged dachshund. I am also sweet as pie, with enormously floppy ears. Won't you give me a forever home?"

If you are interested in adopting Pearl, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to dreamhappytails.org/adoptform.shtml. Pearl 's adoption fee is $350. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Pearl will go to her new home microchipped, spayed, heartworm tested, and up to date on vaccinations. Most dogs' veterinary expenses are greater than our adoption fees.

DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group, and we focus on the Atlanta, North Georgia and Savannah area. Because we are all volunteers, we can consider applications only within an hour of these areas. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back.
