My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We would like to explain that if you are looking for a perfect dog, they are rarely found in rescue. Our dogs often have unknown histories and we do our very best to evaluate each dog with kids, cats, and other dogs as well as determine how they behave in a home. It is important to understand that we have some specific criteria for each dog based on their backgrounds and input from their foster families. The purpose of these criteria is to better match each dog with an appropriate family. While a certain dog might appeal to you based on breed, size, gender or appearance, you may not match the listed criteria. Please understand that we are not trying to make adoption difficult—we are trying to make each adoption successful for the dog and the new family.

If you have children, we suggest that prior to applying for a dog, you view the website http://www.livingwithkidsanddogs.com. The information is excellent and can help you determine which dog would be right for your family.
My name is Gracie - which is the perfect name for me because my biggest wish in life is to grace a loving lap in my new forever home. I’m a 5 1/2 year old long haired Chihuahua who has been told many times (but I never get tired of hearing it) that I am a beautiful dog. My favorite thing to do in the whole world is to cuddle up in my fleece blanket on a special person’s lap. I could do it for hours and hours, and usually do. So if my new family has someone home all day, we’d be a great match. At my foster home, I live with 2 Scotties and 2 cats - I get along with all of my housemates and have even started playing and chasing through the house with them. I can be a bit opinionated about who else gets to cuddle on laps in my fleece blanket (correct answer: no one) but if we can agree I’m queen, it will be smooth sailing. My foster family thinks I am a wonderful little girl that gets comfortable in new situations very quickly. I do use a puppy pad and will work more on going outside once we warm up in Minnesota. And I’m looking forward to walks in the sun too! I don’t know any children so we aren't sure how I would react to them, but we do know I’d be a perfect lap pup for a retired couple or a family with someone home during the day for cuddles. I am a wonderful companion to my foster family - as they are work from home people and can cuddle often. I am so excited to find my new family and a comfy lap where I can be loved forever – is it you? Gracy is with Happy Hound Rescue, a 501c3 all volunteer rescue and is in a foster home. She is spayed, had a full dental, had distemper and rabies shots, was wormed, and has a HomeAgain microchip. Her adoption fee is $350 plus required sales tax.
