My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lucky is 3 years old and weighs 45 lbs. He spent the first 3 years of his life outside on a 6 foot chain with only a dog house for shelter. Another rescue group noticed him living in very poor conditions and after a year convinced the owner to surrender him. He came to Dogs Unlimited Rescue on Friday the 13th and that's how he came to be named Lucky 13!

This handsome, sweet boy is living inside now with his foster family including 4 other dogs and a cat. To say he is loving life is an understatement. He is playful, energetic and very puppy-like in his approach to life! He loves his toys, chasing balls in the yard and just hanging out on the couch.

He has come a long way since joining our rescue. He's house trained and has adjusted well to life on the inside. As Lucky continues to adjust to his new life we realize he needs a little help with the anxiety he experiences when introduced to new things so he's taking a prescription medication for his anxiety. He probably won't need the medication long term but we're hoping it will help in his ongoing adjustment. Also, it would be best if he finds a home with an experienced adopter who will be patient and supportive of Lucky, understanding how his rough start in life has impacted his current behavior.

Due to his size and active, playful nature we are recommending a home without small children. Over 12 yrs of age recommended.

A fenced yard is required so he can be free to run and play. No more chains for this guy!

He will need a home with another playful dog and/or an active family who will make sure he gets his exercise.

All Dogs Unlimited Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on all shots, and are given a monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventative. Upon adoption, all vet records and any current medications are provided to the adopter.

If you are interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application located at http://www.dogsunlimitedrescue.org/Adopt.html

THE SUBMISSION OF YOUR APPLICATION DOES NOT GUARANTEE AN ADOPTION NOR DOES IT OBLIGATE YOU TO ADOPT. Multiple applications are accepted for any available pet and a home is chosen that is the best match between the available pet and the potential furever family. Your application will be processed as quickly as possible and if approved, a home visit would be scheduled. No adoption is final until an Adoption Agreement is presented and agreed to by both parties.

Our goal is to find the right match of our dogs to their new family so all involved are furever happy! Questions: email adopt@dogsunlimitedrescue.org

And THANK YOU for considering a rescue dog for your family!
