My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

The best word to describe Fitz is exuberant! He is active, talkative, playful and definitely not a dog to be a couch potato. Instead, we can see this delightful dog as a young family companion that loves to play ball and will retrieve as long as you will throw. Do you have children that want a dog to play to the last ounce of energy? That would be Fitz. He needs a home with lots of room for him to stretch his long legs. Fitz was found on a deserted country road in southern Tennessee along with his sister and 2 other tiny puppies. All were thin and in terrible shape. Time and TLC have helped him grow into the hefty 55 lb. boy he is today. We believe Fitz to be about 1 year old now, but he is still very much a puppy. He currently lives outside in a kennel, but he has stayed inside in a crate several times during this cold winter and has done very well. He stayed in it quietly all night and did not have any accidents. Since the weather has improved, Fitz has begun taking walks on a leash. He is very excited at first, but settles down pretty quickly and walks very nicely. Fitz is a people pleaser and very food motivated, so he should be very trainable with a dedicated owner. Only adults live in Fitz's foster home, so not sure how he would do with children. We think he would love older kids, but he is too young and active for toddlers. Fitz does ok with other dogs, but they would need to be young like he is and close to his size. His activity level is too high for an older dog. When he meets new dogs, he thinks they all want to be his best friend and he can be a bit overwhelming to a dog that doesn't have as high an energy level. Fitz thinks cats and chickens are for chasing, so a home without these pets would be best. This sweet guy will make some lucky family a loyal, loving companion.
