Hi!

My name is Lady Bird.

I am a 5 yrs ole spayed blue brindle female Great Dane.

I’m mostly (if not 100%) European. Like other European Great Danes, I’m on the shorter side and stocky.

I’ve lost a little weight since I was rescued. I could stand to lose a few more pounds.

I’m good with male dogs.

I’m pretty decent with cats, although I like to chase them whenever they initiate the game. Once they’re standing (or laying) still, I like to sniff and rub my face on the cat.

I am house trained and crate trained.

I like to be the boss of the house.

I will correct or discipline my younger and rambunctious Dane foster brothers. Sometimes, to get them to behave, I’d run at them and grumble (scold) at them.

I love to wrestle with those Dane boys. I’m very verbal and can make it sound like I’m going to eat one of them. If we all wrestle too rough, my foster momma either says “stop!” or call out my name. Then we’d stop the wrestling game.

I listen well to verbal correction.

If needed, I respond well to a water squirt bottle, when I’m doing something I shouldn’t be doing.

I know the following commands: “Sit” and “Down”

I love to roll over onto my back and have my belly rubbed.

I’m pretty good on a leash. I do pull, but with a little work, I will make a great walking partner.

I like to hang out with my people.

I love to follow my foster momma everywhere.

My foster momma says that I’m a very sweet girl, who is looking for the perfect home to call my very own.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Lady Bird, a St. Louis Great Dane dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Great Dane for sale in St. Louis, or seeking a Great Dane dog from a breeder in St. Louis.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in St. Louis already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a St. Louis breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Great Dane breeders who help with Great Dane rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in St. Louis paves the way for another one to be saved.
