Larry's Story...
Hello! My name is Larry and I’m about 4 years old. I am an independent guy who doesn’t care for children or being held, but I do enjoy nice gentle pets when I ask for them. I arrived as a stray in February 2015 and tested positive for FIV. FIV is a virus that depletes the number of white blood cells, which eventually makes me less able to fight off infection. FIV cannot be passed from cat to person, but there is a slim chance that I could infect another cat.

FIV is most commonly spread through deep bite wounds and not easily passed otherwise. Just as a precaution, I would do best in a home without other cats so my immune system doesn’t need to fight off infections. Please research FIV and discuss any concerns with your veterinarian before deciding to adopt me.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Larry, a Menomonie Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Menomonie, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Menomonie.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Menomonie already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Menomonie breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Menomonie paves the way for another one to be saved.
