My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Pirate, a 6-7 year old mellow American Staffordshire Terrier, who endured years and years of living on the street with lots of other dogs, and her two homeless companions, who at best were kind, but often neglectful, never abusive. This shows in her temperment. She loves all people, is gentle with children, loves going on walks, and is a great walker, enjoys car rides, or just hanging out with people. She is living at our kennel and plays in a pack of male and females, lots of other bullies, and does fine. She daughter Maya is also available. I personally cared for the whole family for many years as part of my Skid Row outreach. This was one of the dogs that I secretly hoped that I would get to come into the rescue one day, and then if happened. After years of healthy problems, her owner could no longer care for her, just didn't have the strength or will, so she did the kindest thing that she could for both Pirate and Maya, she said good bye to them, and gave them a chance for a much better life than being tied up to a chain link fence in the hot sun again this summer, or soaking wet in the pouring rain when the police made them all move from their shelter spot, Please consider giving this great girl a life of peace and quiet. She is one of the best dogs that we have ever rescued. Call us at 818-407-4145 or e-mail me directly at Lori@modernica.net our online application is at www.downtowndogrescue.org
